We had some out of state family visit on 8/19/2023. We came in. 40 min wait. No issue. Dinner rush. Understandable. We're happy to wait if it's good food. Good visiting time with family in the waiting area anyways. We even get seated ahead of schedule! Neat! We get our drinks. One of the waiters starts snatching up the straw wrappers and being very exasperated about it. That's fine. Kinda rude tone but if they have that policy, I can understand that. No hard feelings. We order. Get apps. Broccoli balls are delicious. Get steaks. Both my sister and myself get cold, still mooing, new York strip. instead of the ribeye. I'm fine with mine because I was tempted to get the new york strip anyways. I like my steak rare. This was way below blue. My cousins steak (thankfully he did get the proper cut new York strip like he ordered) was still partly frozen but he was too hungry as we only had a small breakfast and skipped lunch. The fillets the rest of my family ordered were also underdone. It kind of made me think they had the same cook time for the steaks no matter the thickness and cooking them straight from frozen. No one wanted to send their undercooked steak back because they knew it would be overcooked and we didn't want to wait longer (small breakfast, no lunch, 40m wait already) I decided to speak up after it was obvious that everyone was getting very upset. I asked the waitress to verify what steak I had. Without checking the ticket, the waitress told me that that looked like our new york strip. And she knew I ordered a ribeye. Even confirmed on her paper I ordered a ribeye. She knew her steaks. She did what she could. It was a frustrating situation for a waitress when the cooks mess up the food. The waitress takes the brunt of it and that isn't right. No hard feelings. The manager however, is a different story. She starts off with telling us(not asking to see) there's no proof left. When I did show her the piece (only a few bites off) of my steak I had left, she called it the ribeye. My mother had the ribeye. A larger but thiner steak. Large visual difference as well as a texture difference. This was not a ribeye even in the waitresses eyes. Either the manager lied to us, or does not know her own steaks. Either are concerning. We didn't want anything remade or taken off but we did get the appetizers taken off. We wanted to make sure we were charged correctly on the steaks since the new york steaks was cheaper(my aunt checked the price). The manager std that the ribeye was actually cheaper but backed down once my aunt showed proof. Long story short, the situation was not handled correctly, everyone left very upset, we will be going to Woody's...
Read moreI'm typically too lazy to leave reviews but this place was just a total let down and I felt the need to warn others. Me and my bf went here and I will say the remodel is awesome. As was our artichoke dip. And that's where it ends. My boyfriend ordered the crab cakes and soup. They never brought his soup until we were leaving (after we reminded them he ordered soup because they tried to bring him salad instead). I ordered a burger, and at first I was brought a veggie burger (I had asked the waitress if a Morningstar Burger meant it was a burger with egg on it and she told me yes) I didn't realize a Morningstar burger was a brand of veggie burger. Instead of telling me what it was, she actually served it to me (with the wrong side as well). I questioned what this was, recognizing it didn't look like a burger and there was no egg on it either. She told me "that's not what you wanted?" Like she had totally forgotten our conversation earlier about the Morningstar burger being a burger with egg on it (one of my favs). I chalked this mess up to her being new and not knowing the menu (albeit, she should have checked with someone else). She took it back and I ordered a regular burger with everything on it medium done. What I got (after a REALLY long wait... again. My boyfriend had already finished his dish) was a burnt extremely well done burger. Nowhere never close to medium. I tried it just to see if it was edible but it was so dry and burnt I could not eat it. The manager eventually came to our table and apologized and I was brought a new menu to order something else. I decided on the chicken alfredo. I got it to go since we had already been there a long time and my boyfriend had been done with his food for over an hour and I hadn't even eaten yet. We were annoyed completely and we expected my meal to be free as it was such a disaster both times but instead we had to ASK a manager to take it off of our bill. Any restaurant with class would have taken it off without us having to ask. Let me point out we still tipped our waitress well and I am not one to complain but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. It was just a total disaster through and through. The atmosphere was nice. My alfredo was mediocre at best (little to no flavor or spice) and the cheesecake was the totally wrong consistency. It is possible our dining experience was a total fluke. As others around us didn't seem to be having any issues. But it was so bad for us I had to...
Read moreI lived in Tupelo for 20 years until this last year when I moved to Arkansas. In my 20 years in Tupelo we frequented Harveys many times. Mine and my wifes first date was at Harveys. Yesterday I had a luncheon at 12:30 with two friends I had'nt seen in a while and we decided to eat there. I arrived 20 minutes early, having driven in from Little Rock just for the luncheon. I walked in and told the three ladies at the front that I was there to meetup with my party when they arrived in 20 minutes and that I was going to wait in the sitting area. They smiled and said ok. Ten minutes later, just as one of my two friends was walking in the manager came by and started giving me what felt like the third degree about who I was and who I was there to meet. It felt like I was a homeless person who had plopped down on their couch and taken up residence. I told her that I was there to meet her (my friend who was standing behind her) and she then got a distressed look on her face. She seated us and I tried to put it out of my mind. Our waitress came and was very polite but spoke so softly that we could barely hear her. The service was very good but when our food came I was shocked to see that my 14 plus dollar delta chicken was the size of the dinner roll and there were barely any mashed potatos or creole sauce. Like I said we have been coming to Harveys for years and I have never experienced this. Maybe it was a one off. Maybe it was just a mess up in the kitchen. Maybe that chicken was anorexic. I dont know, but I did'nt want to make a scene with my friends there so I just decided the best way forward was on here. I dont believe I will do any future lunch meetings there unless I know things are better. I will always love Harveys, but I can get just as good Delta Chicken at Bishops BBQ for half the price and get alot more food. Sorry but thats just a fact. Do better Harveys. I drove a long way for a dissapointing dining experience and to be judged like I didnt belong. The picture...
