I have been following Halal Guys since New York.. super excited when one came to my own city long beach and now being in Irvine I thought I would try this one in Tustin... just... trashy. The workers were disinterested in the actual service but super consumed with their own conversation with one another even while serving. I always get the gyro plate and in the past have always notice they scoop through the meat and try to mix it to distribute "ends" (the chewy almost charred shavings that taste amazing with quality pieces mixed in) with the tender pieces but I got a big ole tub of the shaved tiny ends... much like what you would expect when you are scraping the bottom of an almost empty container. I don't know..... just like, care about what you serve... too bad for me I didn't notice until I got home. If this is your first time here can you have a bad experience please go to the one in Long Beach or Costa Mesa. It is GOOD food and the service is usually much more on point. Update: I came back and the service and food were much better

Bummer! Thought this place would be a viable alternative to the many food options in this area. Was walking by to eat somewhere else and stopped in to look. Two other patrons said the place was good so I returned on a different occasion. Was disappointed relative to many Gyro platters/sandwiches I’ve had coming from the Midwest. I ordered the small combo platter which consisted of gyro meat, chicken, rice and salad. Disappointing because I got a very small portion of gyro and chicken. Felt like I spent 9 dollars for lettuce and tomato, some rice and a sprinkling of gyro and chicken. More like I bought a salad than a combo platter! Besides the small portions of meat, I just wasn’t used to tiny pieces of gyro. I was expecting slices. Finally the 3 slices of pita just didn’t do it for me. Left longing for more of everything and the thought that other options around were better values.

We came here purely by chance, as we are from the Phoenix area and came to look at the historic blimp hangars nearby. There was a fast moving line here from the moment they opened until we left an hour later. This tells you a lot about the food! After eating, the word that comes to mind is WOW! We had the gyro meat platter, falafel and hummus. The gyro meat was tasty, and they give you plenty of it. Every bite had meat in it. I am not embarrassed to say that I wolved down my platter without inhaling! The falafels were also delicious, perfectly fried and moist inside. I left here with a happy belly, wishing we had one of these in AZ. I'll be waiting Halal Guys! We will definitely be back next time we're in Cali, and I highly recommend this place to all. Two big thumbs up!

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE Love Halal guys, but this location has always seemed understaffed, or not very motivated. Ordered online today, placed order at 11:30, ETA to be done was 11:42, drove there and arrived about 12 (plenty of time, I assumed). I go in & there were FIVE people waiting on online orders ahead of me... Only an African American kid who was slow as a mf working, while some Asian kid was cutting up the meat/doing prep. This dude was moving insanely slow, I cannot stress this enough... may have been overwhelmed, but c'mon man, at least give us an ETA apologize, something. He just kept his head down and SLOWLY got through a few orders. THEN a baddie Latina walked into the mix, either back from lunch or just clocking in, she was the real MVP. She literally got through the ENTIRE line of walk-ins (6-8ppl) and just had black guy ring them up, she asked us all pick up or order, separated the lines (yes, some people didn't even know where to stand, African American kid did nothing for this), was cheerful, personable, quick and efficient. That lady saved the day, and looked good doing it, too... Anyways, finally got my order around 12:27, so nearly an hour after ordering... Should've waited for baddie Latina to clock in, and just ordered there, dually noted. Give that woman a promotion or something, because I was legitimately a few minutes from just walking out due to the disorganization and lack of urgency. Again, order there, and if the baddie Latina is there, be grateful. If the other foos are there, you may be better...

Good intentions, bad execution. The idea is to provide a fast food version of Middle Eastern/eastern mediterranean staples to the public. But several things, including the (low) quality of the ingredients makes it crash. First off though, if you call yourself Halal Guys, why then refer to it as Gyros (the workers pronounced it Jay-ros!)? Why not shwarma?

No matter: problem 1- the workers don’t know how to make this food. The way the food is served is obvious that they are thinking of it as non-spicy Mexican food. So, the manner of making it, requiring a certain finesse and order, is given up which takes away from the experience.

But, problem 2- TOO many corners are cut. The chicken is dry and tasteless. The beef (premade shwarma stacks) tastes industrial. I did not have falafel, so I don’t know. But bread is terrible too, not the right bread for the food at all. Then, there is a sauce, referred to as “the white sauce” (!) which is the wrong sauce really. This needs a tahini-garlic sauce. Instead, you get a non-descript mayonnaise based sauce, and asked if you want suspiciously “pico de gallo” looking tomatoes and jalapeños on it (!). Saying no means you get some bad bread with dried out chicken on it, for a whole lot of money.

I did not try the Hommus. But the baba ghanoush was the only thing that wasn’t bad (of course I could not quite get why it had bell peppers in it?).

Overall, instead of this, of you don’t care about the Halal part, just go to a good taco shop and ask for a non-spicy...
