DO NOT ORDER ONLINE Love Halal guys, but this location has always seemed understaffed, or not very motivated. Ordered online today, placed order at 11:30, ETA to be done was 11:42, drove there and arrived about 12 (plenty of time, I assumed). I go in & there were FIVE people waiting on online orders ahead of me... Only an African American kid who was slow as a mf working, while some Asian kid was cutting up the meat/doing prep. This dude was moving insanely slow, I cannot stress this enough... may have been overwhelmed, but c'mon man, at least give us an ETA apologize, something. He just kept his head down and SLOWLY got through a few orders. THEN a baddie Latina walked into the mix, either back from lunch or just clocking in, she was the real MVP. She literally got through the ENTIRE line of walk-ins (6-8ppl) and just had black guy ring them up, she asked us all pick up or order, separated the lines (yes, some people didn't even know where to stand, African American kid did nothing for this), was cheerful, personable, quick and efficient. That lady saved the day, and looked good doing it, too... Anyways, finally got my order around 12:27, so nearly an hour after ordering... Should've waited for baddie Latina to clock in, and just ordered there, dually noted. Give that woman a promotion or something, because I was legitimately a few minutes from just walking out due to the disorganization and lack of urgency. Again, order there, and if the baddie Latina is there, be grateful. If the other foos are there, you may be better...
Read moreGood intentions, bad execution. The idea is to provide a fast food version of Middle Eastern/eastern mediterranean staples to the public. But several things, including the (low) quality of the ingredients makes it crash. First off though, if you call yourself Halal Guys, why then refer to it as Gyros (the workers pronounced it Jay-ros!)? Why not shwarma?
No matter: problem 1- the workers don’t know how to make this food. The way the food is served is obvious that they are thinking of it as non-spicy Mexican food. So, the manner of making it, requiring a certain finesse and order, is given up which takes away from the experience.
But, problem 2- TOO many corners are cut. The chicken is dry and tasteless. The beef (premade shwarma stacks) tastes industrial. I did not have falafel, so I don’t know. But bread is terrible too, not the right bread for the food at all. Then, there is a sauce, referred to as “the white sauce” (!) which is the wrong sauce really. This needs a tahini-garlic sauce. Instead, you get a non-descript mayonnaise based sauce, and asked if you want suspiciously “pico de gallo” looking tomatoes and jalapeños on it (!). Saying no means you get some bad bread with dried out chicken on it, for a whole lot of money.
I did not try the Hommus. But the baba ghanoush was the only thing that wasn’t bad (of course I could not quite get why it had bell peppers in it?).
Overall, instead of this, of you don’t care about the Halal part, just go to a good taco shop and ask for a non-spicy...
