Local BBQ — Restaurant in Tyler

I decided to swing by and give this place a try. I highly recommend it. I got a sliced brisket sandwich, it was delicious, and a side of coleslaw . I got my order to go, and they put two bags of a pickle jalapeño mix and a baggie containing of about 1/2 a sliced onion. The brisket was tender and smokey and the portion was very generous. Some of the brisket had more fat than I care for and the coleslaw was nothing to explain about, which is why I deducted one star. If you are a BBQ fan and tired of the other places lack of care and gouged prices, definitely give Local BBQ a shot, you will not be disappointed.

Update, I 100% came back for dinner. Let me start by saying the girls up front remembered me from lunch and we had a good time how quick a turn around it was for me. Who I assume was the manager or owner even came out from the kitchen to acknowledge it. This made the atmosphere exactly what I look for.

I got the Rose City Nachos with pulled pork and Local Tator Tots. The pulled pork was just as perfect as the brisket, along with all the other toppings, euphoric. The tator tots are huge, and are bombs of flavor with each bite.

Given the second experience was just as awesome showing that lunch was not a fluke, I am upgrading my rating to all 5 stars!

Good Food, 2nd time visit. Friendly staff until they give you the wrong food. I paid almost $19 for a nacho plate and Earl Campbell’s side of sausage. But asked for pico on side and they add in anyways, the brisket looked like chopped pork, plus they give me ham instead of sausage. I called they were nice about taking it back and getting it fixed. Then the cashier that took my order wants to get mad because what she gave me is what she heard! Ummm I said Earl Cambell’s sausage not turkey, how you get those confused I don’t know. Then cook comes out clarifies that it is brisket and that he can switch out the turkey. Ok so they got that part right but I still wanted pico on side and not in nachos, he got annoyed and took it back and then came back and gave me correct order with attitude. I know everyone is short staff and all but come on! We are still paying customers and I think is only right that you fix it and don’t have to be mean about it or annoyed I didn’t mess up the order. I just want what I asked for. ...

I'll start with the good, the place is new so it's clean, and the people are very nice, and the food came out in a timely manner. My wife said the bbq baked potato was good. The sliced brisket was tasteless, the sausage I got were earl Campbell store bought tasted like it came straight from Brookshires. The ribs were tough and really didn't have a stand alone taste, the sauces were ok nothing special. I think if a BBQ place opens up around tyler it needs to have good meat to compete with the great places we already have, like Stanley's, country tavern, ringmasters (Whithouse not bullard). Even spring creeks buffet BBQ has better taste than this place does. I hope they figure it out until then all I can give is a 3 and I feel that may be to generous, but like I said it's clean and the people are nice, the local tator tots were awesome great little side. I mainly want the owner to know my concerns, if they ask me to i will remove this review in hopes that they can get...
