So anyone who knows me and reads my reviews will know that I don't BS and I don't hold back. A lot of you have followed me for a long time and I got the local guide stamp for a reason. So I give an honest review to the best of my ability. I don't apologize for what I say.
So these places like Blazin have been in the NYC area for some years now ever since the General Ock thing on the internet took off. I know because I am from Brooklyn, NY born and raised. They are mainly Halal and unless you have a problem with that, the place is a hang out mainly for people who are mostly Indian, Arab, Muslim etc. which, is completely fine by me.
The food is really good as I have never had a bad meal there. I have had several things on their menu such as the Platter (which I will get to in a second because it's the reason why I gave it a 2 star review), Salad, Shake, Gyro, and Subs. They do it as close to NYC as they can get it which I appreciate. If you leave here hungry, that's a problem. The place is open late night till 3 or 4am which is rare as most places here don't open past 11pm. I don't get out of work till 1am. The Service: Ok this is where I am going to rip this place apart. My first time I came in, I ordered a Chicken Platter. It literally came out in 2 minutes. As I have come in more, I notice the wait time got even longer. This past week after work, I came in at 12:25am and I ordered a Chicken Platter. Simple right? No. Because it took damn near 20-25 minutes for a simple CHICKEN PLATTER. Everyone who ordered after me, got their food. 2 guys behind the counter seemed apologetic until I noticed something. I got my food and it dawned on me as 1 of the guys said to me: Sorry. There were 15 orders they had to fill. Which it meant this to me: IF YOU ORDER ONE ITEM, YOUR ORDER MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THEM. What I'm trying to say is I noticed everyone who got their food ahead of me, ordered more than 3 items or more. They took those orders alot more seriously because What is afterall, $13 to this place when they are placing orders that are $35 and more? So if you plan to walk in there and place a single order, you might as well cook it yourself or go to a drive thru at McDonalds. Now what am I supposed to do when you are hungry, put in a 14 hour shift, and there's no other options: If I get angry and curse at them, I look like the bad guy. If I say nothing, I look like the idiot. They could have at least given me a cake or a bottle of water just to say sorry about the wait. But instead, I get: Thanks for understanding. NO. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT TOOK 20-25 MINUTES FOR A CHICKEN PLATTER. I am going to walk in here 1 more time and I am going to place an order for a Chicken Platter. Then I am going to time it for my followers and we will see how fast this comes out. If my food doesn't come in 5-8 minutes because this food is made in bulk, I will never come in here again because fool me on shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I don't like being shamed. I will give this place another chance and if I get the service I want, I'll re-edit this post and raise the...
Read moreSo, let me set the scene. It’s Saturday night, and before catching Gladiator 2 with bae, we made a quick pit stop at Blazin’ Chicken. And when I say quick, I’m lying—it was packed like CFE back in the day. (If you know, you know. Shoutout to the DMV old heads.) Regardless of the crowd service was still fast.
First off, parking was surprisingly smooth for a spot in a Trader Joe’s shopping center. But I can only imagine the chaos during the daytime. Luckily, we pulled up around 9:45 PM, and the real crowd was just starting to roll in. People were rolling up in pairs, squads—it was giving late-night meetup vibes.
The moment we stepped inside, the energy hit us. A group by the counter was getting the rundown from the owner himself, who was full of personality and charm. He greeted us with the same energy, letting us know he was there to answer any questions. You could tell this wasn’t just business—it was his passion.
The Order: • 6 Blazin’ Wings • The Monster Platter (white sauce and blazin’ sauce on the side) • Milkshakes and waffles (sold out, sadly) • Complimentary Strawberry Lemonade
We placed our order and found a spot to sit while waiting for our number to be called. The staff was on it—attentive, friendly, and making sure everyone felt taken care of. When our food was ready, one of the guys asked if I wanted blue cheese or ranch with the wings. Ranch, obviously. He also let us know the strawberry lemonade was on its way.
Then came the food. Let me tell you—the proportions were proportioning. Pictures don’t do it justice. You had to be there to understand. It was piping hot, fresh, and brought back my love for halal food again after one bad experience almost ruined it for me.
The Food Breakdown: • The Wings: Who knew wings from a halal spot would slap like this? Juicy, saucy, flavorful, crispy. I’m still mad I didn’t order more.
• The Monster Platter: A fully loaded plate of greatness. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, the rice was fragrant and flavorful, and the small salad (with tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions) tied everything together. Every bite hit just right. The monster platter includes lamb and falafel too.
• The Drinks: The strawberry lemonade was solid, but that half-and-half? Chef’s kiss. It took me back to the days when we thought we were mixologists, comparing Kool-Aid recipes and discovering Arnold Palmers. Nostalgia in a cup.
And all this for $24.37. For fresh, flavorful, and affordable halal food that’s open until 12 AM? Blazin’ Chicken is officially in my late-night rotation. If you haven’t been yet, what are you...
Read moreBlazin Chicken and Gyro, the latest fast-casual sensation in Tyson’s Corner, has quickly become a must-visit destination in Northern Virginia. Located conveniently in the Trader Joe’s shopping center, this vibrant spot is taking the area by storm, and for good reason.
The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an atmosphere that’s as sleek as it is welcoming. The aesthetic epoxy floors and hive LED lighting evoke the feeling of a supercar garage, making the space as visually captivating as it is comfortable. But it’s not just the setting that impresses—it’s the people. Waseem, aka "Sir Blazin" by his Instagram following, is the heart and soul of the restaurant. As the owner and a wonderful host, he made sure my group of 15 felt like royalty during our Friday lunch celebration for my fiancé’s birthday. We were seated at a large table in the back, where the staff effortlessly served up an impressive array of Blazin's best dishes in family-style fashion.
Speaking of the food—wow. Every dish we tried was a hit. The ribeye cheese steaks were packed with savory flavor and perfectly tender, while the beef and lamb gyro platters were rich, aromatic, and just the right amount of indulgent. But the real standout? The chicken tenders. These crispy, juicy pieces of heaven are so good, they might just give Raising Cane’s a run for its money. Each dish was served in generous portions, making it difficult to pick a favorite, but that’s a good problem to have!
We even got to sample Blazin’s latest creation: the dessert milk cakes. These were a delightful twist on tres leches cake, available in several delicious flavors. A refreshing and unique way to cap off our meal, they were the perfect sweet treat to share with the group.
From the top-notch food to the friendly, efficient service, Blazin Chicken and Gyro is an outstanding addition to the Tyson’s area. The fact that it stays open late, catering to those in need of post-bar eats, is a major bonus for night owls. So, if you're in the area and craving delicious, flavorful meals in generous portions, Blazin is an absolute must-try. Trust me, you...
