When I say this food is decadent, I’m searching for an even elevated word!! Circa at The Boro was impeccable! My boyfriend and I went for the soft opening and was served by Amy. She was knowledgeable about the menu, had great descriptions for each dish and knew exactly what drink to pair with each dish. We had the Waygu sliders - hands down the BEST sliders I have had. They are perfectly balanced with juicy flavor, marinara sauce and some kind of pesto/guac sauce. The caesar salad was crisp and the dressing was made in house. Very creamy and delicious! Also, well balanced, the salad was not over dressed. We had the scallops and short rib for entrees. The scallops had the most perfect crust and sat on top of a bed of mushroom risotto. The risotto was a little under cooked - crunchy, but delicious all the same. The short rib came in a three level tower - mash potatoes, short rib, and topped with THIN fried onion rings. The meat was so soft, we could eat it with a spoon! No knife needed! We paired our entrees with the Old Fashioned drink which is served with a piece of rock ice. This is how bourbon should be served. The ice maintains its form therefore it doesn’t water down your drink. I was able to sip and enjoy over the course of 15 minutes and probably could have drug it out longer. I couldn’t…. It was the second best Old Fashioned I’ve had! We wrapped up the night with pumpkin cheesecake. It was light and had such a light flavor. There was nothing overbearing about it. The manager Rory was wonderful in conversation and making sure everything was just right. We even were able to meet the owner, Vince, who was also very nice and excited about the night. My boyfriend and I had just eaten out at another upscale restaurant the night before and Circa outperformed in every way! I am a life long patron of this restaurant group and this was only my...
Read moreWhat a LOVELY addition to this area. This is my first time to Circa at The Boro, although I've heard of it before from my coworkers.
It did take a minute to find my way from the metro to the restaurant, but it is still an easy walk from the Metro and has a parking garage around the corner.
I arrived slightly earlier than my reservation, so the patio table wasn't ready. The ladies at the front were extremely friendly, as was our server, who was almost ready to serve me before I was even seated! I wandered over to the bar and asked if I can order a drink while I wait for the table and the bartender said no, I need to wait to be seated and order with the server. This is the first restaurant I've been to where I cannot order at the bar (even if I was willing to close the bill).
While our server was extremely nice, the service was extremely painfully slow. They were much faster at clearing the tables and bringing the check than they were at taking the orders. I had to keep going inside to find the server and place our orders. I guess I got some steps in during the process.
The decoration was simple, but exquisite. I loved the vibes at the restaurant, the bar, dining and patio areas. The indoor bar area was self-seating. My only complaint would be the awful, heavy, noisy patio chairs were hard to move!! There were heaters in the patio area, making it cozy.
They have a small happy hour menu, which includes house wines, beer and a specific cocktail. The small plates and flatbreads were $2 off. We ordered the house cabernet sauvignon, a couple flatbreads and appetizers. All the food was amazing. Would I return?...
Read moreThis is such a nice restaurant with outdoor seating. The ambience is really nice and the restaurant has an open feel to it. It does seem a little upscale but still very casual at the same time. We came on the weekend to try out the brunch menu. They have interesting variations of options. We like the Open Road's (part of this chain of restaurants) avocado toast and wanted to try the avocado toast at Circa, but unfortunately the one that was presented to us here was not as complex. We ended up ordering the short rib hash, which was delicious. We also got the omelet but without the egg white just with regular eggs. That was pretty good. In the end we got the brunch burger which was delicious. It was interesting because it came with an English muffin as the bun. The burger also came with potatoes , with sauteed red bell pepper and onions which were perfectly done. Potatoes were crunchy on the outside and deliciously seasoned. We would like to come back to this restaurant to eat dinner as well as trying out other menu items. Unfortunately for this day the service was poor and they seem to be understaffed. We hope to have a better experience at...
