Currently in the hospital and ordered a meal that cost $28 for just that dish. It was delivered by Doordash. I requested in special request area of restaurant's order form that I want tomato/pasta/marinara red sauce, whatever they call it, also on the side because I like extra sauce and due to cancer related issues cannot eat "dry" meals. My husband was here visiting but needed to leave as soon as it arrived. I had radiation treatment today with extreme pain being a side effect. While my husband was down in the lobby waiting for the dasher to deliver, I was upstairs, in my room with my treatment team experiencing a severe bout of pain that caused me to become delirious, incoherent, incapable of eating and I had not yet seen my food to see that the extra sauce was not in there and my meal was somewhat dry and cool as the restaurant did not put extra sauce in another bowl or in with the meal as asked until after my two bouts of emergent pain and delirium were over 1.5 to 2 hours later, after my husband had left for our home, in Winchester 1.5 hours away. After finally getting comfortable and taking a nap after given sleep induced meds to reduce the pain around 9pm, I opened my meal to have my nurse warm it for me and then noticed my request was ignored. I have difficulty talking due to an oral prosthesis I must wear at all times and difficulty hearing due to radiation and surgical side effects of hearing loss. 70% hearing loss which makes it difficult to communicate on the phone. I asked my daughter, Stephanie to please call the restaurant for me, even though she was at her home in Winchester, to ask them if they could either please arrange to have the requested sauce brought over or make me a new one as this one was not finished completely per my request of the extra tomato sauce on the side (in another bowl) for the pasta and chicken. They refused. I took one bite and although it tastes delicious, it was too dry and too cold and I am unable to eat it. Therefore at just 85lbs, and I did not and cannot order food from the hospital kitchen until 630 tomorrow morning, I have not had anything to eat and am limited to the type of food I can eat and am pretty hungry. I am just 4 miles away in the hospital and they refused to help get me the meal I ordered from them, paid them for and will likely have to discard because it is hard to heat it up as it dried up even more when I did have my nurse heat it to attempt to eat it. This was NOT a Doordash mistake, this was this restaurant's mistake and refusal to help a debilitated woman get the meal she so wanted to eat. The restaurant should have remade the meal , add the extra bowl of pasta sauce as requested and paid to have doordash deliver it to the hospital as they had a few hours earlier while I was suffering a traumatic event in my room and my husband was here and able to get it. They used the excuse that it was ordered much earlier so it couldn't be replaced. Yet, they still made it incorrect and had that sent to me. I want the food and if not, I want my money back, ASAP! I hope you do the...
Read moreI called this morning to make a reservation for two, for 7:00pm. I was told that 7:15p & 7:45pm were available. I chose 7:15pm and was expecting them to be busy. We arrived on time and they were not busy, people were walking in off the street. Having made a reservation I was surprised they seated us in the bar area even though the main dining room was empty. Since it was our first time there, we decided to give them a chance. They seemed to be under staffed. It took forever for someone to come to our table. When they did it was the bartender. We ordered iced tea and requested sweetener since they did not have sweet tea. About 5 minutes later the bartender brought us water and said a fresh batch of tea was being prepared. At this time we ordered our appetizer, bread with seasoned oil dip. When the appetizer came about 10 minutes later and we asked "where is our iced tea"? The tea eventually showed up but without any sweetener, no straw & no spoon (for stirring in the sweetener if it happened to show up). Being under staffed it took 5 plus more minutes to get someones attention so we could get these things. The bread/oil appetizer was good but they gave us so little oil seasoning that we had to request more. I'm sure you get it by now: under staffed, waiting for service, etc. Our salads, which were very good, were the best part of the meal: one caesar salad & one simple salad. I like separation between courses but the separation times were extensive to say the least. Our entrees (Glazed Short Rib Cavatelli & The Half Chicken Dish) again were decent but I was surprised that there was no offering of fresh grated cheese, fresh ground pepper, etc. Only salt & pepper on the table. In a nutshell: If you want decent food at a fair price and don't mind very poor service, no attention to detail, long waits between courses and expectations of a decent table after having made a reservation & being seated in a bar booth then this is the place for you. Our first experience here will be our last. From the time we were seated to the time we left, well over 90 minutes had passed & we did not even have dessert or coffee & the validated parking was only good for 90 minutes so I had to still pay for my parking. Figures and "par for the course". Sadly for North Italia in Tyson's, you will get better food & service, without question, from The...
Read moreNorth Italia at Tysons has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the area, and for good reason. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a stylish, warm, and inviting atmosphere. The modern yet rustic decor, the open kitchen concept, and the bustling energy of the dining area make it perfect for anything from a casual lunch to a special dinner outing.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is the food and the service.
Let’s start with the service: absolutely top-notch. From the hostess to the bar staff and servers, everyone is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. On my recent visit, our server not only made great recommendations, but also ensured our drinks were never empty and that every course arrived with perfect timing. You can tell the team here is well-trained and genuinely cares about your experience. They strike the perfect balance between being present and giving you space to enjoy your meal.
Now, the food — simply outstanding. Every dish is crafted with care and packed with flavor. The appetizers are fresh and creative — the White Truffle Garlic Bread is dangerously addictive, and the Chef’s Board is a perfect start to share. For the main course, the Short Rib Radiatori is one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had, with melt-in-your-mouth meat and rich, balanced sauce. The pizzas have the perfect crust: slightly charred, chewy, and full of character. Everything is made from scratch, and you can absolutely taste the difference.
Drinks deserve a special mention as well — the cocktail menu is refined and well thought out. Whether you’re into a strong Negroni, a refreshing sangria, or a creative seasonal special, you’ll find something to love. The wine selection is equally impressive, with both Italian classics and domestic options to pair with your meal.
Parking is easy too — Tysons Galleria has ample space, and valet is an option if you're in a hurry or dressed for the occasion.
North Italia isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a consistently great experience. The combination of ambiance, service, and cuisine puts it in the top tier of dining options in the Northern Virginia area. Whether you're visiting for a weekend date night, celebrating a birthday, or just grabbing a casual weekday bite, this place never disappoints.
Highly recommend — make a reservation because it does get busy, and for...
