International Asian Cuisine becomes a local commodity here at Toyami Steak House in Union City. They even have a Union City roll made with all ingredients you would commonly find in this neck of the woods. Toyami comes complete with karaoke, bar, arcade room, pool and air hockey room, party room, hibachi bar, beer bar, TVs with family friendly programming and more-all of these pictured. I will be your guide to the uniqueness and friendliness that is Toyami Union City. From seat to meal the whole process only took 11 minutes. I waited four minutes to order and seven minutes to receive my food. I ordered oysters, three lamb skewers, and the Pink Lady strawberry ice cream. The oysters I found to be lightly breaded with a sweet hearty saltiness that would satisfy a seafood lover, they clearly do oysters well here. The lamb skewers were perfectly cooked with a nice chew texture and saltiness that would satisfy what you look for in a lamb dish. Their take on ice cream is a homage to asian roots that finds this velvety dessert rolled into creation as pictured. Its very playful and automatically for convenience comes in a to-go container. The playfulness continues with strawberry pocky as well as syrup and boba pearls added(upon request). This place could be considered a Boba Lounge and its one of the few places you can acquire Boba(two drinks both blended and over ice pictured) for up to a hour drive away and they do it well. Family friendliness is driven home as the children get their own kids menus as pictured. Pride is truly a factor here as they created their own custom Toyami art piece across a wall. There is a small seating area in the games room with side tables for you to cleanly keep your food and drink while enjoying pool and air hockey or the arcade games. As I offer to hold nothing back in my reviews I would offer a couple well placed criticisms. The bathroom needs updating, in a post-covid community it has become common place for auto dispensing paper towel dispensers and flushing toilets to be found even at fast food restaurants yet that does not exist here. The bathroom has some build up amongst floors and walls and the partition/door to the stall either needs deep repair or replacement to bring into this day and age. Further for a menu that would offer such unrestricted variety I find it odd that it would restrict you from mixing and matching the skewers as the price is listed as "per skewer" which leads you to believe that you can mix and match or order any number individually, and this isn't the case you must order them three at a time of the same kind. This being the case I believe the menu should reflect this. To summarize this is a family friendly establishment of the highest caliber and I would offer a come one, and come all to far and wide to enjoy this very singular unique experience that is Toyami. If you are unable to get out due to some restriction on any given day, thats fine, they Doordash too. Enjoy dear...
Read moreThere is a bit of a language barrier that made ordering difficult and possibly dangerous for someone with food allergies. Thankfully, my food issues are not as severe as some andbI have a general sense of what is "safe" on a Japanese style menu. We ate at an "off" time, about 2pm. It was a late lunch/early dinner. They called a hibachi cook in, and while there was a short wait, it didn't feel long, and he did a terrific job. Honestly, we had reservations about quality when we entered a restaurant in a strip mall with air hockey tables and wet floor signs everywhere (the floor was not wet, but it was slick in some spots). I don't think those in our party knew they had hibachi, and they offered it as a dining option. We did not know they had to call someone in to cover our meal. I felt the food was good. Better even than some other higher priced fancier Hibachi restaurants. Meat and shrimp were cooked just right. I didn't swim in too much rice, and the vegetables were done perfectly. I have been served almost raw veg at another place. Downside: The language barrier delayed my child's dinner because they did not understand what I had ordered, and I didn't realize they did not understand. I also had hoped to try one of their milkshake style drinks that claimed only healthy ingredients, but the waitresses could not understand my request to know ingredients. A must to avoid my allergen. Water was my only option. I do not think all members of my party enjoyed their meals, but my family...
Read moreI've ordered takeout from Toyami twice over the past month, and each experience has been great.
The first time we ordered takeout, my wife got the Lo Mein Noodles, and I got the beef fried rice. Both were fantastic. The fried rice was so good that, despite thinking I'd have enough for leftovers, I ate all of the rice in one sitting.
We ordered again last night. Since I bragged to my wife about how good the fried rice was, she opted to order the vegetable fried rice, and I got the beef fried rice again. And, like before, there were no leftovers.
The prices for the items we've ordered have been more than reasonable. Both items averaged around $10 each, which, considering the portion size, is more than a fair price.
Pickup times averaged around 15-20 minutes, but our orders have always been up front and ready whenever I went in to pick them up.
The service when checking out is great, too. I'm always asked if I want utensils or extra sauces for our meals.
The first time we ordered was around the holidays. Upon checking out, they gave me one of their 2025 calendars, which included all their contact information.
Again, I've only ordered twice, and I ordered similar items both times, but I've been more than pleased with the food.
Based on my experience, this is the spot when you don't feel like cooking and have a craving for Japanese or...
