I’ve dined-in and ordered to-go at least 16 times now. I can honestly say that they are consistently great.
I was hooked from the get-go. A WIDE range of menu items with an endless display of their signature dishes on the walls. Every time my girlfriend and I come for dinner, we also try to select something new. Whether it be a fish dish, pork, veggie, soup, braised, fried, etc., every single dish was surprisingly good but Some were amazing (with the exception of their dumplings unfortunately. Those are just okay).
Stand outs: This sweet and sour fish dish with a uniquely tasty sauce, their four meatballs definitely left a big impression (they were huge and delicious), their braised pork knuckle was insanely tender and great, their garlic shrimp with vermicelli had so much flavor, I could go on and on.
I maybe had one unfavorable experience. It was a very busy Tuesday evening, fully packed and actually had to wait for the first time. Food took a while to come out, approx 30-40mim which isn’t normal, but having been there numerous of times before, I wasn’t bothered. They moved as fast as they could while being professional. Not sure if they weren’t expecting the rush or a short staffed in the kitchen, but at this point, I just imagine they’re all family trying to make this wonderful restaurant work, and to me, it’s working. It’s rare to find a genuine lowkey restaurant that is cooking with such intention that you feel it in the...
Read moreI called and got some to go dishes for a gathering I had at the house. I ordered:
Meigan Cai Cooked w/Pork - 4 / 5 Great tasting dish just like how other restaurants usually prepare them. The marination was right and it tasted delicious for all of my guests.
Honey Walnut Shrimp - 5 / 5 A very solid staple for any Chinese restaurant. The breading is perfect alongside with honey and walnut. The portion though is a little on the smaller side compared to other dishes.
Black Pepper Beef - 4 / 5 The black pepper is strong in combination with beef and onions is the perfect way to make this dish taste superb. The beef however could have been marinated longer which would have made this dish taste even better.
The services though in my opinion lands on the wait. I called before I came, they told me it'll be ready at 5:20 pm. I showed up at 5:22 pm and only 1 out of the 3 dishes were ready?
Mind you that this was about 30 minutes after I called to pick up my food. What took them so long? There were only 3 parties eating inside. What were they doing the whole time? I guess I would never know....
If you ever order here, just know that the meal prep will be slow if you aren't here in person. The food ain't bad, but the wait is what...
Read moreWe stopped by over the weekend and were seated quickly upon arrival. However, by the time we left, the place was packed—so it definitely fills up fast on weekends.
The food took a bit of time to come out, even though it wasn't busy when we first arrived. Still, the wait wasn't too long.
Service was just okay. It took a few minutes before we were given menus, which was a bit of a delay.
We ordered the four meatball dish, green beans, traditional sweet and sour pork, and Shanghai dumplings.
The meatballs were surprisingly tender and the sauce was flavorful. The green beans were decent but nothing special. The sweet and sour pork had thin slices of pork, but the batter was heavy and the texture a bit chewy. The Shanghai dumplings were average—the filling was fine, but the skin was a little too doughy.
Overall, I'd give this...
