I’d like to share my recent experience at Outback Steakhouse, located at 2412 Rudkin Rd, Union Gap, WA 98903.
For context, I had been traveling for thirteen hours that day and was starving. I debated going to another steakhouse down the road, but since my hotel had an Outback menu in the room, I decided to give them a try. I studied the menu and photos carefully so I could order quickly once I arrived.
When I got there, I asked to sit in the bar area. After sitting down, no one engaged with me for quite a while. I started to wonder if the staff thought I had already ordered. Eventually, someone asked if I wanted a drink. I placed my drink order, but before I could ask about ordering food, they walked off. It took a while to get my drink, and by then I already felt like I’d been there far too long without much attention. When I finally did place my order, it turned into another exercise in patience as the food came out slowly and not all at once.
Starving, I cut into what was supposed to be my filet mignon and immediately noticed something was wrong, it didn’t look anything like a filet, or like the menu photo. Concerned I’d received someone else’s order, I asked the bartender, who admitted he didn’t know much about steaks and called the manager.
The manager’s response was disappointing. He came out loudly, making it seem as though I was just trying to get a discount, ensuring everyone nearby could hear. I explained that it wasn’t about the money, I genuinely thought I’d been given the wrong meal, because what I received in no way resembled a filet mignon. Instead of addressing my concern, he kept offering discounts. When I showed him the menu photo, he said he couldn’t control what was sent to him and insisted it was their version of a filet mignon. In the end, he charged me for a sirloin.
The bartender asked if the steak was “juicy.” I told him it was fine, but truthfully it was the worst steak I’ve ever had. On the Prime–Choice–Select scale, this was below Select quality. I was shocked, because their prices don’t reflect a discount steakhouse.
Lesson learned: I now realize Outback Steakhouse is the “Chotchkie’s” of steakhouses. I won’t...
Read moreThe best experience my time there was the hostess! She was Warm Welcoming and Bubbly. I sat by the bar to watch the game. The bar, the very cold, stern, and shrewd bartender she took my order and gave me a check. She gave me a empty bottle of hot sauce initially which should not have happened. In taking my order She rushed through that, she scurried around me as though she did not want to wait on me or talk to me. Also the CO worker that she sat at the bar with talking with the entire time. I asked for the happy hour special, and I specifically pointed at a drink special which consistent of an extra shot for 1$ more she overcharged me 11.00$. When she gave me the bill I noticed i paid, she went back to the bar where the coworker was sitting and she said to her, "she did not say anything". The coworker looked back at me. I didn't make a fuss, hence the manager also kept glancing at me coming from the back looking at me, as though I was there to dine and ditch. Maybe they weren't used to one of me dining there! Hahahaaa!! Well I was not keen, impressed, or delighted to dine there I will not recommend or go back!! Poooor Service, personality, or Quality Control!! Oh I guess she knew I wasn't going to to tip so she had to get...
Read moreI was very saddened this evening with my experience of my "curbside order". We love the Outback & treat ourselves occasionally by going to dinner. But since my husband has a chronic illness, we have been doing online ordering & pickup after Covid. I made our order so I could pickup after work. I pulled up, read the sign that states "Curbside Takeaway - please stay in your car & we'll be right out". I waited 12 minutes & no one even came to the takeaway door (being glass I could see straight in from my parking spot). So I went ahead and called the restaurant. The person who answered told me to go ahead and step inside the door and someone would be right with me. I went ahead and waited inside Takeaway area. No one ever even popped their heads in. After waiting another 6 minutes I seen the shelf with my bag on it. I made sure it was my name & order, then left. I got home to cold, soggy food. I was sad to see that the order was not only cold & limp but it was missing butters & condiments. $60+ a 15% tip for less than mediocre food. If you are going to offer service such as online ordering & curbside service, I'd hope the manager/owners will look into what quality of service...
