Michaels — Local services in Union Gap

Went in to get a photo mat. I didn't need a frame job, just a fancy piece of cardboard cut. First trip I went around 8 PM. Website said open until 9 with no stipulations. Made the trip just to be told only one person can cut a mat and he only works until 7:30. That REALLY needs to be disclosed. Made a second trip the next day only to be told I couldn't get a mat cut unless I gave them an invasive amount of personal info. I wasn't leaving any art with them, just asking them to cut a piece of carboard to a certain size. I was told that they couldn't even ring up a mat without all my personal details. Manager saw nothing problematic (actually laughed). Went across the parking lot to their competitor and got the job done, then called customer service to complain. According to Michaels corporate, there is no such policy, and no reason they couldn't have cut a mat without mining my data. Corporate confirmed that there is nothing about their system that would prevent a mat from being rung up just fine. I have no idea what they plan to do with all the info they're gathering or who they're selling it to, but in the age of identity theft there is NOT ONE REASON to give a stranger your details to buy...

I have spent thousands of dollars at this store, and I had gone in there recently to get ribbon and beads for my grandsons dreamcatcher, had over $100 in my pocket with intentions of spending at least half of it there. I was not even there for 10 minutes, when mall security came up to me and informed me that Michael's staff had contacted them and asked them to come remove me because they "have seen me in there a lot stealing"... I have NEVER in my life stolen anything from any place of business or from any person!! I was so embarrassed and humiliated I replied "are you serious right now!?! I have never stolen anything in my life from anyone or any store, but if you want me to leave, I most definitely will." I asked where she wanted me to put the items I had already chosen to purchase, she told me she didn't work there so she didn't care, and literally escorted me out the door. I have spent well over a couple thousand dollars, easily, over the past 15 years, and I will never spend another dollar here again, neither will any of my friends or family!! My experience was great. I love going into that store I could be there for half A-day and never stop running out of things I want to explore. I wish I had $10000 I could spend their I would have myself a heyday and come home and Create all kinds of beautiful things.
