If you're willing to put up with a lot of negatives to be in a trendy place, this restaurant is for you! On its own merits the food here is pretty good. Over priced for the small serving sizes and relative low quality though (spring greens were old and looked like something I'd salvage for dinner when we were out of groceries). I didn't see mention that things were organic or local. We went early on a Saturday evening. A time when you'd expect a place to already have it's act together yet not yet be running low on things. Not so. They were out of crazy things like spring rolls, sauces, and (not even kidding) all potatoes. After adjusting our orders to reflect their seemingly sparse pantry we proceeded to wait over an hour for an appetizer that was ordered as a meal to appear. Then another dish 15 minutes later. 10 minutes for the next item. The wait time and staggered plate arrival for things that we clearly weren't sharing was absolutely staggering. We needed to request some bread or crackers for the kids at the table at some point because they were really struggling with the hunger by then. There kid's menu, incidentally, has tiny portions unlikely to satisfy any children above age 3 or 4. When the last two burgers finally arrived we found that the order was wrong and that instead of one "impossible" burger with greens and one Frida's house burger with spicy peppers, etc that they'd just made two identical meals. At that point no one cared and we just scarfed down our food without much enjoyment and got away as fast as we could. We went there to try the impossible burger but honestly I'm not sure if I've had it or not considering the mix up. The food that we did have was good and presented in a cute or pretty way. But it wasn't anything to write home about either. Considering how small the dining area is both in front and behind the wall and how many people seemed to be working in the kitchen, I can't understand what the problem was. I'd be tempted to order another impossible burger from Frida's to see if that is what I had. But it would be the only thing I'd pay for from them and I'd most certainly save some hours of my life and call in a...
Read moreI went to Frida's for my birthday dinner this past weekend thanks to my partner. Upon entering the establishment you have to wear a mask, but you are able to take it off once you're seated. There was hand sanitizer upon walking in to sanitize your hands as well if you'd like. The staff was pleasant and nice upon entering. Being seated we were told that we'd have to order through an app once we scanned the barcode, then menu will come up and we'd also pay from there as well. We don't particularly care about scanning the bar codes and prefer paper menus and a person to order, but we stayed as we wanted to try the food. My partner scanned the barcode and got the menu to come up. We figured out what we wanted and tried for a while to get our order to go through. I asked one of the staff to help us and we finally got it after about 10 minutes. Paying for the food was a lot simpler. Our food was amazing. I took some photos down below for you all to check out. I had a vegan burger with potatoes. My partner had a taco plate with a side slaw. Overall the food was good, tasty and filling. I would return to try some other things on the menu because they all sounded so good. The ingredients used were fresh from the taste and my bread for the burger was a homemade style bread. It was good for my first time visiting Frida's. We will be returning.
This establishment is wheelchair accessible with a ramp out front. There's street parking and we found a meter right out front. The establishment wasn't overly crowded and we got a seat upon walking in. They also have outdoor seating if you prefer. If you're into vegan food this is a place you must try.

Read moreThe food and service don’t live up to the ambiance. It was a beautiful spring day in St. Louis and I was so looking forward to having a healthy and delicious lunch as the reviews had suggested, so I popped in for a bite. When I walked into the fairly empty place at around 1pm, a waiter walked past without greeting me and I stood alone for a few minutes until the bartender finally looked up, greeted me and summoned a waiter to seat me. The restaurant interior was designed and decorated beautifully, but it was so lovely outside that I opted to dine on the patio. I ordered the waitresses suggestion, which was the Taco with slaw. Sadly, both were extremely bland and dry. The slaw was quite bitter to boot. I was never visited again by the waitress to see if I liked it or needed anything else after my first few bites (which is a paramount rule in service industry and a personal pet peeve) She only came after I had ample time to completely finish eating (15-20 mins later), otherwise I would have said something and/or ordered another dish. I also didn't receive refills of water or iced tea until both were empty and I had to get her attention to make a request. Again - this was prime lunch hour and they were not at all busy, so I fail to see any excuse for the lack of service. That, in addition to the bland food make this a 'never again' for me. Perhaps I’m spoiled from living in several big cities for 20+ years (L.A, Chicago, Atlanta and Nashville) but I believe STL...
