While the culinary experience was outstanding, the overall visit fell short in several important areas. The food and wine offerings were exceptional, and for that reason, I would still recommend this location. However, to enjoy a true fine dining experience, l suggest requesting a specific server and speak with a manager about seating preferences vs the hostesses. If you don't, expect a more casual level of service that doesn't quite align with the elevated quality of the cuisine. We had requested seating in a quieter area for business, but were instead placed near regular guests known for humming loudly throughout their meals. Interestingly, the manager immediately understood our request for a different table without needing an explanation, suggesting this is a recurring issue. Our server's approach was overly casual and lacked the professionalism expected in a fine dining setting. There was no introduction, no beverage or menu recommendations, and we had to request bread service. Tap water was poured without inquiring about preference, and made us feel like we weren't worth his time. Hospitality appeared to be an afterthought. The cocktail experience was especially disappointing. I ordered two smoked Old Fashioneds--drinks I've enjoyed at other Hyde Park locations--but both were poorly executed. After speaking to the bartender, I learned the server is responsible for stirring the drink or the Agave syrup will sit at the bottom of the drink. Our server nor the manager could explain why the drink was unbalanced and upon leaving the bartenders explained. The manager didn’t remove anything from the bill. I paid $42 for both drinks that I could only drink 60% of each drink. Would not recommend old fashioned at the Upper Arlington Hyde Park. Despite these service, manager & hostess-related issues, the kitchen truly delivered. Every course was impeccably prepared, ano the flavors were exceptional. Kudos to the culinary team for their consistency and high standards--you are the highlight of this location. Read moreAfter a less than stellar steak was served to us last month at a very prominent restaurant at Easton Town Center, which restaurant will remain unnamed, we were very impressed and delighted with the quality of the food at Hyde Park in Upper Arlington. Every single aspect of the experience was noteworthy. It was a little difficult to find a parking space when we arrived for our 7 pm reservation on a Friday night. But the staff directed us to a lot across the street we could use. We were seated immediately. Chris was our server. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, although to tell you the truth, the four of us already knew what we wanted. This Hyde Park location is a little off of the beaten path. Last month when I went to visit a friend at a nearby rehab facility, it occurred to me...Hyde Park...that's the place we'll go when our friends come to town in April! We've dined there before but it was an out of sight, out of mind situation. Hyde Park offers more options than steak, but based on the four of us, we'd say, if you are in the mood for steak...this is definitely the best place to go. The bread service is delicious. My husband and I shared the chopped salad...superb! I had the escargot, and it was the best I'd had in a long while. At the table we had two of the Steak Kosar dishes, it is served Oscar style with half a lobster tail, bernaise and bordelaise sauces and asparagus. Another had the Steak Woody. (My husband and I shared a larger portion of the Steak Kosar.) We also had a side order of Lobster Mac & Cheese and each couple shared a wonderful Butter Cake Bananas Foster dish. The atmosphere was vibrant but certainly quiet enough to enjoy conversation at our own table and not bothered by hearing the diners at other tables. Hyde Park has just become our new favorite restaurant for steak. We won't forget it is tucked away there off of Old Henderson Road. Now if others read this...it will be harder to get a table. Tip: Make a...
Read moreI absolutely can't believe how unwelcoming and rude the service was there last night. We have been regulars for many years. My boyfriend's family goes there for almost every special occasion.
Last night we wanted to take my mother out for a well deserved steak dinner. We had reservations and we waited quite a while to be seated. I understand that it was restaurant week so we didn't complain since they were so clearly busy.
When we were seated in the front room with the fireplace, our server (some dude with glasses and dark hair), we never caught his name, came over and poured us half full glasses of water and walked away. It took him about 30 minutes to get our drinks. He mumbled the specials and walked away. We had no idea what he was saying. We thought maybe he was just having a bad night so we didn't complain but he made us feel like we were annoying him.
My mother had a stressful week so we thought spoiling her to a relaxing and delicious meal would make her happy instead of a wonderful evening, we had a terrible evening.
We couldn't get refills.
Her meal came out completely wrong. She ordered the filet with blue cheese crust. She received someone else's steak. When we kindly asked for the correct order, they took it away, and less than 2 minutes later brought back the same plate. Only this time, it had sauce and a nasty glob of wet cheese on top. She hated it.
Our potatoes were under cooked, cold, and swimming in cold sauce.
My boyfriend's steak was under cooked.
We didn't get to eat together.
Our chocolate cake came out ice cold and was disgusting.
The manager was rude and talked down to my boyfriend. Who never got to even eat the steak they charged us for. We had to box it up because it wasn't cooked properly.
My mother is having major health issues and we just wanted to do something nice.... Instead we had a horrible evening. That we spent hundreds of dollars on.
How could we ever go back? :( I literally...
