Charritos Restaurante Taqueria — Restaurant in Upper Arlington

I don't usually take the time to write a bad review, but I could not let this one pass. The worst service/food I have had in a very long time. But the worst part was that the manager/server didn't even care. I walked in on a Tuesday morning at 11:50 am. Only two small tables of customers were there, so they were not busy at all. It took almost 15 minutes for the waiter to come over and get our drink order. Then, after another 5 minutes, he brought us our drinks and we asked for an order of chips and salsa, assuming they were complimentary. He brought a half empty stale basket of tortilla chips and a small salsa bowl that tasted like tomato soup and pepper. Then we ordered our food and it did come out rather quickly. However, the Barbacoa Burrito, which is listed in the menu as including corn, black beans, guacamole, and sour cream... came out with only a very bland serving of barbacoa... nothing else... a burrito that only had bland meat. Barbacoa is supposed to have a little spice to it. this has nothing. So I took my dish back to the counter (since the waiter never did come over to ask how everything was) and kindly asked them to remake the burrito with everything that is listed on the menu. A few minutes later, I was given a burrito that included a small portion of barbacoa , a few kernels of corn (seriously like 6 or 7 kernels), a teaspoon of guac and that's it. So I asked the waiter again if maybe I had misread the menu. He gave me an annoyed look and said it was made correctly, but he would (albeit reluctantly) bring me more guacamole and sour cream. He brought me the smallest side of the two that I have ever seen. He made no apologies and acted like it was my fault that I didn't like what I received and quickly walked away. I tried adding the little bit of guac and sour cream to the dish, but it really didn't help the flavor. It was horrible. Then the bill came, and of course I was charged full price for my meal I only had three bites of and an additional $2.00 for the "sides" of guac and sour cream (which were supposed to be included). So not only was the food bland and flavorless, the service was even worse. If I thought he was just having a bad day, I would have understood and not felt the need to write this review. However, it was clear that when I brought the issues to his attention he was not willing to make sure his clients were happy or even given the correct dish.

I have been this restaurant on two separate occasions over the last month because I had a Groupon for $30 worth of food. The first time when we went to pay I pulled out my phone and pulled up the voucher on my app and the guy at the register told me that they cannot redeem the voucher from my phone and that I need to print it out on paper. He then pulls out a voucher from the register that someone else had printed out to show me what I need to do. They ended up giving me just 10% off that day because of the problem.

So I went back today with the voucher printed out and when I go to pay the guy behind the register (the same guy from the first time I went) says that they do not accept Groupons and they don't know how to use them. Terrible experience trying to explain to them that I paid for the Groupon and trying to get them to honor it. After arguing over it for several minutes, another customer who took the cashier's side, angrily says that she will pay for our food if we just get out of the restaurant. The lady then looks at us and tells us that we should have called ahead to make sure that the restaurant will honor the coupon before we ate there. Anyway, after this whole thing as I'm walking out of the restaurant I say thank you to the lady who offered to pay for us, and under her breath she says "f*ck you." Really? Learn how Groupon works. It was specifically for that restaurant and I paid money for the coupon. I have used Groupon at dozens of places before and never had any issues just pulling it up on my phone and having the place honor it.

Anyway, the food was good but not great. I will say that you get a pretty good portion for the price, but still a one star review because the terrible service and overall experience...

My husband recommend this resturant for date night because his coworkers and himself order this from Uber eats often and love it but not any longer. For context my husband and I are a mixed couple.The initial interation was friendly with the staff and ordering was easy but it all went downhill fast from there. My husband and I both ordered the same meal the Birria quesadilla each with a side of rice and beans along with an appetizer of chips and queso, my husband also ordered a side of fries. The chips and queso came promptly and my entree came about 15 mins later along with hubby's fries but his entree never came a waitress came by about 10 mins later and we asked where his meal was and the response was that he never ordered a entree but that they would make it and bring it out, so they did but it was not the same as mine at all, the tortilla was burnt and the meat itself was practically non existent due to being chunks of fat, the onions and cilantro were not there either and I was given a cup of consume while he was given a small dip cup you would get ketchup in again without the onions or cilantro. The issue here seems to be that as long as they do not know who they are cooking the food for it is done well but as soon as they see you it is an issue.
