As someone who’s traveled through 48 states and visited more coffee shops than I can count, I don’t say this lightly: this place used to be special. It wasn’t just the taste—which is now only somewhat there—it was the people. The community. The vibe. And all of that disappeared the moment new ownership stepped in.
Maddie, one of the most talented and passionate baristas I’ve ever met, is no longer here. Whether she left or was forced out, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that the very soul of this shop left with her. The rest of the original crew is gone too. What replaced them? A team that simply doesn’t connect, doesn’t carry the same energy, and frankly, doesn’t get it.
This is why coffee shop workers start unions. Because owners forget—this isn’t just about margins and profits. This is a way of life for baristas. It’s an art form. It’s about showing up for a community every single day with consistency, care, and passion.
Instead of cutting out the people who made the shop thrive, the only thing the new owners should have been thinking about is how to share profits with the baristas who made this place what it was. How to support them, not replace them.
You don’t clean house when you buy a successful café—you listen, you learn, and you honor what made it beloved in the first place. But that clearly didn’t happen here.
I’ve never written a review like this before, but I’m doing it now because people need to understand what’s been lost. And future owners need to understand what not to do.
This was a neighborhood gem. Now, it’s just another...
Read moreI have been stopping by the Java Joint for at least 10 years now. Before that, on my way into the office in Coopersburg, I'd swing by the chains occasionally. And while I do like the coffee at places like Starbucks, I'd much rather support a local, small business. The first time I ever stopped at the Java Joint I was sold. The cappuccino was amazing, great flavor. My usual go to is a large hot latte, no additional flavor, since the espresso has great taste. From a food standpoint, everything has been phenomenal. Their cannoli and bagels are awesome. The donuts that they get from Mary Anne's were a great addition to the line up. They also have great seasonal buys such as fastnachts that you can pre-order. To top it all off, the customer service is spot on. Simply great people that run the stand. I highly recommend trying this place out. I'll usually go for a run local to the area and then hit this up on the days that I drive in to the office. Great way to...
Read moreThis is honestly the best coffee place in the Lehigh Valley. With amazing staff that cares about making your coffee and the service you get. This is a drive-through only and it gets busy so you know it’s good! They’re only open Monday through Saturday closed on Sundays, but that’s not an issue for me because the hours are great especially for those who work early shifts or wake up early. I order the latte with almond milk and Sometimes order the biscotti or a doughnut. It really is a great Small business and I feel really good supporting it. I really have no complaints and I am never disappointed. It’s always a great start to my day & I will drive the extra miles to get my coffee from here over any other place. Highly recommended check them out if you haven’t yet You won’t be disappointed! Thanks again Java Joint and staff. I’ll be back...
