A Modern Indian Culinary Gem in the Lehigh Valley – White Elephant Impresses from the Start
We were fortunate to attend the pre-launch event of White Elephant, and from the moment we stepped in, the experience was nothing short of delightful. The upscale ambiance, warm hospitality, and beautifully presented, flavor-packed dishes set the tone for what promises to be a standout addition to the Valley’s dining scene.
This is not your typical Indian restaurant. White Elephant brings a modern, refined touch to traditional Indian cuisine—truly a one-of-its-kind concept in the area. If you are craving something “hat ke,” this is your spot.
The team, led by the passionate owner and a skilled kitchen brigade, was incredibly welcoming and open to feedback, which speaks volumes about their commitment to excellence.
As a food enthusiast, I often find that appetizers outshine the main courses at many places. Not here. At White Elephant, the mains held their own—and then some. The Dal Bukhara was my personal favorite—rich, smoky, and indulgent—dare I say, even better than the version from its place of origin (if you know, you know 🤫😉).
Another standout was the Mangalorean Shrimp Gassi—a dish I would have devoured entirely had I not already been full from the appetizers. The shrimp, in this dish and the prawns in Tandoori Jhinga, were perfectly cooked - fresh, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Clearly, the chef knows their seafood.
The lamb chops were also a highlight—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Saag burrata was an interesting twist to the traditional palak paneer. We ended on a sweet note with two kinds of cassata ice cream, and the kulfi version stole the show.
White Elephant is a refreshing and bold addition to the local food scene. I genuinely wish the team every success—they deserve it. Don't wait too long to visit; this is a culinary experience you will want to be a part of. If you are in Breinigsville, Allentown, somewhere nearby, or just visiting, do...
Read moreA Memorable Pre-Opening Tasting Experience! I had the pleasure of attending a tasting session at this soon-to-open modern Indian fine dining restaurant, and it was truly impressive. The menu features a unique and creative fusion of Indian and other Asian flavors — a refreshing take that stands out both in taste and presentation.
Some highlights from the tasting: • Charred Avocado Bhel – absolutely delicious and a perfect fusion twist • Lotus Root Dumpling Chaat – flavorful and inventive • Shrimp Lettuce Wraps – fresh, vibrant, and very well-executed • Butter Chicken – good, though more traditional in comparison to the other bold dishes • Served with soft naan, fragrant rice, and a lovely dessert to finish the meal
The ambience is modern and inviting, with open seating that enhances the overall dining experience. The owners were incredibly welcoming and warm throughout the event, clearly passionate about what they’re bringing to the table.
Can’t wait to return once they...
Read moreDisappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this Indian restaurant was bad enough that I feel obligated to share. I ordered a chicken dish, and to my shock, the chicken was undercooked. They did replace it after I pointed it out, but by then, my appetite was already ruined. What made the situation worse was the server's attitude—dismissive, unfriendly, and clearly uninterested in providing even basic customer service. It felt like I was being a burden just by asking for properly cooked food. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't redeem the experience. The food was bland, poorly prepared, and left me feeling sick afterward. This was far from the flavorful, comforting Indian cuisine I was hoping for. Definitely not going back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. There are far better options out there that actually care about quality and...
