The restaurant seemed a bit small but was able to walk in during lunch time (on Christmas Eve so maybe it’s not as busy) and get seated pretty quickly. We ordered the wonton in chili oil, XLBs, BBQ pork bun, and an order of bamboo and mushroom bun. Excluding the buns, the order of XLBs and the wonton was filling and I feel like they give more than your typical restaurant.
The restaurant doesn’t seem to fail on keeping their environment clean. And I do appreciate the kitchen transparency where you can see the chefs make the dumplings. Since the restaurant is a bit small, there is only one unisex bathroom which I feel that they maintain cleanliness but was lacking supplies when I was in there.
As for what we ordered: -Wonton in Chili Oil: 10/10 for me -XLBs: 9/10 just because it wasn’t piping hot but mix it with the chili oil from the wonton order and it’s 12/10! -Bamboo & Mushroom: 7/10, my mom thinks it didn’t have enough taste and thought that maybe adding more seasoning would be better. She said that the bamboo shoots were shredded very thinly and not crunchy. BBQ Pork Bun: 11/10, these could be a hit or miss because of the consistency of the bun. I’ve experienced other buns disintegrating in my mouth and getting it stuck on the roof. The consistency at 88 is perfect and the filling is not too sweet.
Would definitely recommend if you’re...
Read moreThis is a new little restaurant inside the outlet stores at the net tree. When you walk in , you have to place your order, and then they seat you. At first, it seemed pretty expensive to me. As each item runs individually, about $9 a plate to $18 or $20 a plate. The great news is that you get a large plate full of food that you can share with several people. We had plenty enough to eat there in 2 of us.Take leftovers home for dinner and breakfast the next day. The employees are nice and helpful. And a cool treat for the customers is that it Has a window into the back of the kitchen so you can watch. The employees making the food especially the dumplings and pot stickers. What a treat to watch those skilled hands make your food. It's not super fast service since they make everything fresh, but it will be worth the wait. I've already raved about this restaurant to my family and friends and plan to go back, Of course, on a pay day, though. There are not too many places to sit inside and a few tables outside. So, I hope they plan on moving to a bigger facility to allow more seating. Again, I would recommend this place because the food is...
Read moreMy favorite dumplings around! I bet everything on the menu is good but, even though I've been here over a dozen times, I haven't tried that many dishes because I ALWAYS insist on getting the same thing: pork Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and wontons in chili oil. And of course, the cucumber salad is a perfect accompaniment. Food is super fresh, it's really fun watching the assembly line of dedicated dumpling makers hand-making all the dumplings. I don't know if their other locations are as popular but this is a small outpost and it can get quite busy so they have a very particular but efficient seating system. If eating in, you wait in line to order first, then they assign you a table, then bring out your order as each dish is ready. However, the staff is friendly, the service is prompt, and the food comes out quickly. And the sauces are pretty addictive too. (Though recently we noticed the ratio of chili:oil of the table chili oil has changed and the cucumbers were cut differently.) Please don't change anything, 88 Bao Bao, everything...
