Hunan House — Restaurant in Valdosta

Instantly walking into this place was unwelcoming, the lobby is set up to block customers from getting to close to the counter or kitchen, either way very odd and a little concerning like what were they hiding? Also the lobby looked very out dated and a bit run down. It made me question the sanity of the restaurant and the safeness of the food I ordered. I’ve hear a lot about this place so had to see for myself. The service was one sided as the waitress barely spoke. Was told a wait time of 10-15 waited 17 so not bad but for 3 items, idk you judge that. I ordered 1 pint of hot and sour soup. It was fresh I believe and very hot. It tasted pretty good but it was no spicier than black pepper. I give that 5 stars. For the price, not bad. I also ordered 1 pint of egg drop soup. I give that 1.5 stars, it was watered down and it didn’t taste very good. It seemed old and was barely warm. The color of it didn’t seem right. I didn’t finish it. I would not order that again. I ordered 1 order of spring rolls, the size much bigger than most places almost exact to the size of an egg roll. Taste, way too much black pepper, it was under cooked and very soggy inside, did not eat them all the way. I would not order those again. Price was just under $12.00. I didn’t leave a tip, was not necessarily worth it especially since the waitress didn’t say but two words and walked probably 20 ft when I ordered and again when I picked up. Update 2: Gave them another chance 5 months after this review on 4/24/22. Delicious food. General Tso’s chicken was finally spicy. Threw up until it hurt and had explosive diarrhea not even 5 minutes after finishing dinner. :) zero stars if I could. I want to like them so so so bad but ugh they make me sick every time. UPDATE: unfortunately, I have to lower it to 1 star since I’m suffering from terrible and painful food poisoning after eating here. The food was pretty good but (1) I asked for my general Tso’s chicken to be hot and spicy. It was mild. This happens every time I order this dish from there. It still tasted great but I would love to actually have my chicken be hot and spicy. (2) I ordered shrimp lo mein. I counted the shrimp. There were literally only 4 shrimp in my entire order of noodles. Still tasty but I felt a little cheated. (3) I’m not going to lie, I felt a little sick after eating the food. I’ve ate here before a few times and this is the first time I’ve felt sick so hopefully it’s a one time occurrence. Hopefully this isn’t food poisoning. I’ll update the review...

I WILL NEVVVVVVER do a delivery order from here again that is for sure! EVER! Today I made a delivery order for Chicken Chow mein and Chicken fried rice. I paid a delivery charge, and I tipped the person who delivered. It was delivered to my place of business and they didn't give me any eating utensils. I called them back and asked them why I didn't receive you utensils and they responded with "We don't give utensils if you are in a home". I said "Sir, I am at my office, a place of business and we have no way to eat". He responded with "Can't you just go out to the store and get some?" CAN I GO TO THE STORE AND GET SOME AFTER SPENDING $20 ON 2 ITEMS and TIPPING?????? So they bring me 1 fork an hour an a half later, I opened the box AND THE ORDER IS COMPLETELY WRONG!
