I usually stop at this Black Rock every Saturday and Sunday (to feed my coffee addiction). Today, I ordered drinks for myself, my brother, and my mom. My brother’s drink was supposed to be a blended chai with mocha drizzle blended into it. When I said that at the speaker, the person taking my order asked clarifying questions, so I repeated it again.
At the window, they handed me a blended chai with mocha drizzle around the cup instead. Normally, I wouldn’t complain, but my brother didn’t like it made that way last time. I politely explained that it was incorrect and asked if it could be remade. The barista told me I should have said “chocolate chai” next time and “need to make sure I say the correct order at the speaker,” even though I had already specified what I wanted. When I repeated that I’d like it remade, she replied, “Well, I guess I can remake it if you said that.”
I was surprised that it even felt like a question or inconvenience to have the drink corrected. Instead of remaking it, she poured the drink back into the blender, added a little drizzle, and handed it back—this time soupy and not blended properly. At that point, I didn’t want to ask again, so I just left.
I really hope that in the future, when customers provide feedback or request a remake, it can be done without hesitation or negativity. It makes all the difference in the...
Read moreI love Black Rock Coffee. It really is delicious. The atmosphere and customer service in this location leave a lot to be desired. The menu is in small print high on the back wall of the food prep area and is very difficult to read. The music is very loud so it's difficult to hear and be heard when ordering (a challenge if you are ordering a coffee drink with an unusual name and specific details). The staff seem bothered. The [dining] area is pleasant and modern. As with many places on Mill Plain Blvd, getting to the store can sometimes be a challenge due to lights, left turns, u-turns, etc. That said, drive through might be a good option.
An update: I have dropped my service rating because during my visit today one of the baristas sneezed multiple times into the inside of her t-shirt. She then continued to make drinks for patrons without washing her hands. I was being helped by a different staff member, so I got my...
Read moreEmployees are not trained well on customer service! My family and I are new in town, we have been seeing Black Rock coffee all over town. I was happy to see more than two coffee house chains like where I moved from. About three weeks ago, I was on my way to Trader Joe’s M, I saw Black Rock Coffee at 305 SE Chkalov in Vancouver, WA. I thought this is a good idea to get a cup of coffee. I asked the employee for the restroom code, she said I had to order something—at that time going to the restroom had become urgent. I told I will order in a couple of minutes after using the restroom. Her answer was shocking “There is a Fred Meyer’s close go there”. I wrote emails to the store from two different email accounts to be sure they receive it, no one apologized; not even explanation and acknowledging that wasn’t acceptable to management. Now I appreciate Starbucks good customer service, their staff is very respectful...
