I have mixed feelings about this place. When we arrived it took some time to get someoneâs attention. Even we had a reservation and arrived timely we were told we had to wait for people in front of us to get our table. I was like â thatâs what reservations for, to have a table ready upon arrivalâ. Server we got was rude/way not friendly, and literally didnât want to answer any questions and at some point situations were ridiculousâ. I asked if quail they cook were previously frozen or they are being cooked fresh. Her âNot frozen but not very freshâ. I asked her to explain what she meant but she just repeated the phrase. All right. I had a question regarding their fried chicken but it was so specific that I didnât know how to ask it in English and because she didnât speak Russian I asked to call someone who speaks Russian to ask. She so did want to call for someone that she was repeating âWhat is your question about?â I told her I need to ask it in Russian. She was like again âWhat is your question aboutâ. I had to tell her if I knew how to ask it in English I would not ask for Russian speaking worker. Another waitress came and answered my question which led me into ordering pan fried chicken. Ok. She took our ordered. I felt so unwelcome. Less than a minute later I came to her placing an order and asked if rice can be substituted with potatoes. Her âI already placed an orderâ. In my head âIt was just within a minute, canât you change it or show a little bit more initiative to satisfy your guests!?â I turned around and when I was coming back to the table I told my family âI want another serverâ. I guess another server overhead it and she came and fixed all the issues and at the end provided with good service as well. Food was not bad. The fried chicken was dry and tasted burnt. I gave it a couple tries and put it aside, could not eat it. Not sure if they were in hurry with orders in the kitchen or what led in such an awful flavor! I ended up eating potatoes and salad only. All other food we ordered was pretty good though, especially borsh. Like I sad...
Read moreMy overall experience at Kebob City Grill was good, but thereâs room for improvement.
Food: The food was actually pretty decent. Itâs definitely better than a lot of takeout options, and it felt like home-cooked meals, which I really appreciated. Itâs real, authentic food that stands out compared to places where you can tell things are overly processed or âfake.â For example, the eggplant side dish tasted like it came from a jar, similar to what youâd find in a Russian store. While it wasnât bad, I do think freshly roasted eggplant would have been a much better touch. Aside from that, the portions were generous, and the kidsâ menu, especially the fries, was surprisingly good.
Service: The service is where I felt the experience could really improve. The waitress wasnât particularly friendly, which detracted from the overall vibe. If the service were more welcoming and attentive, Iâd easily consider giving this place a higher rating.
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a Russian-style vibe with an open layout, which felt more like a cafeteria than a cozy dining space. It may be because the restaurant wasnât very busy when I visited. I imagine the atmosphere could feel livelier and more inviting during an event or live music night, and Iâd like to return to experience that.
Overall: Kebob City Grill is a decent spot with good food that feels homemade, which is a big plus. If they could improve their service and perhaps add small touches like refillable drinks for kids, the experience would be much better. For now, Iâd give it 3 out of 5 stars, but Iâm open to coming back to see how it feels during a busier time or live...
Read moreThis was by far the most luxurious restaurant experience Iâve had in Vancouver, Washington and completely unexpected from the outside! From the moment I walked into Kabob City Grill, I was blown away by the elegant atmosphere and beautiful music. Itâs a true hidden gem.
This is not just a great spot for solo dining, itâs a destination I plan to return to with friends, family, and for celebrating special occasions. For how beautiful the restaurant is and how much food you get, the prices are honestly shockingly cheap, it feels like a steal.
Now, letâs talk about the food. it was absolutely unforgettable. I ordered the chicken lula, and it was hands-down the best lula Iâve ever had. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and paired with roasted vegetables and crispy fries. If youâre looking for authentic, mouthwatering Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine in Vancouver, this dish is an absolute must-try.
If I could rate this place a 10 out of 5, I would. Highly recommend Kabob City Grill to anyone visiting or living in the Vancouver-Portland area. Itâs a top destination for foodies and anyone who appreciates quality yet affordable dining in a beautiful setting.
P.S. I decided to treat myself with their dubai chocolate at the end, and it was the best one Iâve tried so far, shared it with my kids at home and they LOVED it. The server mentioned theyâll be adding a dubai chocolate cake to the menu too soon. canât wait to go back and try...
