I love good food—especially good Asian food—and this place hits the spot every time. If you’re a fan of bold flavors, spicy dishes, and warm hospitality, this is your new go-to. My personal favorite is the Spicy Chicken Bowl. It’s simple, satisfying, and packs just the right amount of heat. I usually swing by for lunch, and it’s always fast, fresh, and filling. The lunch bowls here are consistently excellent—hearty, flavorful, and made with care. What really makes this place special, though, is the owner, Sam. He’s a one-man powerhouse—cooking, cleaning, delivering food, bussing tables, and taking orders. There’s something about seeing the person behind the counter putting their heart into every detail that makes the meal even better. The vibe is casual and welcoming. It’s great for a quick solo lunch, a casual bite with friends, or even a relaxed lunch meeting. I often see families enjoying their meals here too—it’s that kind of place. One fun detail: on the wall is a sign that asks, “Jajangmyeon or Jjamppong?” I had to ask what it meant, and I’m glad I did. • Jajangmyeon (짜장면) is a dish of noodles topped with a thick, savory-sweet black bean sauce made from fermented soybeans, diced pork, and vegetables. • Jjamppong (짬뽕) is a spicy seafood noodle soup in a bold red chili broth, often filled with mussels, squid, and shrimp. The question is a common one in Korean restaurants, like asking, “Coffee or tea?” or “Tacos or burgers?”—and it’s become a cultural shorthand for personal preference, even in Korean dramas and conversations. I’ve tried both here, and the Jajangmyeon was fantastic—authentic, flavorful, and still unique to the vibe Sam brings to every dish. In short: local gem, great food, great owner. A fun and tasty spot for both lunch and dinner. Highly recommend!

Ever since we discovered this location, we always go here for Korean food in Vancouver. I always crave for black bean noodle, but it’s hard to find locations in Portland/Vancouver area since choices are limited. The register has pictures of the food and the names promoted which I thought it was genius for those who don’t know Chinese/Korean cuisines. I tried the black bean noodle with pork belly, and it was delicious with the right amount of nutty and umami. Serving portions are big! I recommend sharing and try their other appetizers. This time we tried the galbi and kimchi cold noodle, and we were blown away by the seasoning and the roundedness of the meal. Galbi was not too sweet but the marinate tastes so fresh. Kimchi cold noodle was so refreshing with the adequate amount of tanginess from the spice and sweetness. Definitely recommend coming to this restaurant whenever you’re in the area. The owner of the restaurant is very sweet and proactive with the customers as well. He often comes out of the kitchen and check in on everyone which we don’t see often in a lot of places. He one time apologized for the longer cook times for the food, and it made us respect the work and passion he has for the restaurant.

Decided to stop in for lunch today and we were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted warmly and were asked our names, he was incredibly kind and gave off the best vibes. I had my service dog with me and he simply asked the appropriate questions and no more- which is always a bonus- especially that he did so with kindness and respect and didnt treat us like a hassel! The place is clean, big windows give lots of light and the atmosphere is light hearted and genuine. Onto the food! We ordered the black bean noodles with crispy pork belly, as well as the spicy chilli shrimp, both of which came out heaping, and so so hot. The flavors were incredible, and we loved every single bite, the spicy shrimp was not to spicy- very flavorful. We ended up with plenty of leftovers too! The price is just right for us- for 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and enough for another meals worth of leftovers including tip we hit the $50 mark. For us- this is a good price range when going out to eat. We will be back, we've already decided every time we come we will be ordering a new dish each to work our way through the menu!

If you have young kids, this place is NOT for you.

I'm torn about my recent visit to Pan & Grill. The food was undeniably delicious especially the Jjajangmyun. Havent found any good one around the area and heard about this place so we came to try, but the overall experience left a sour taste in my mouth. As a parent, I was taken aback by the guy up front (prob the owner) constant hovering over my well-behaved young kids. It felt like he was waiting for them to make a mistake, specifically warning them about touching glass surfaces and windows due to fingerprint concerns. While I understand the desire to maintain a pristine environment, it made me feel uncomfortable and like I was being policed. My kids were behaving, and I was actively supervising them, but the owner's constant intervention made it feel like we were doing something wrong. I constantly having to tell my kids or even held them back from touching anything in the store afraid he will give another warning. The kids were 6 yrs old and under. How do you expect them to sit still like an adult when they have to wait for a while for food and after eating. Another thing is while we were eating, he was bussing the table next to us with a full size cleaning alcohol spray bottle. He sprayed directly to the table instead of on the cloth and we can feel it travelling to our table. While I understand the importance of cleanliness, it seemed excessive and inconsiderate to spray cleaning solution so close to our table. The high prices at this restaurant are justified by the quality of the food, but the added stress of worrying about what my kids might do or get warned for, made it a less than enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to families with young children or anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere. The food may be good, but the vibe is just too uptight and the attention to cleanliness, while appreciated, was handled poorly.

Leave your kids at home or trap them down good if you really want to bring them along.
