After eating here for lunch and dinner, I must say this is one of the best Italian restaurants in Venice. Any local can tell you that Italian cuisine is over-saturating the restaurant market here, so standing out is unique.
I am a vegetarian and have found no issue finding entrees to satisfy my needs. (No reliance on salads or apps.) my husband is a hardcore carnivore, and has been equally as pleased.
The dish I would highly recommend on their dinner menu is the walnut ravioli with Gorgonzola sauce and poached pears.
Our only complaint, and I use that term while openly laughing, is our hostess on our dinner visit. We called for reservations late, at around 4:45. The call went to voice mail, but they called back immediately. I requested a reservation for 2 at 5:15 if at all possible (Sat night, in season.) Told they would be happy to accommodate us. Fast forward to 5:10 and a very flustered hostess. Admittedly, the phone operator hung up with out taking our name, but I showed her the call log. She was very upset and appeared to not want to seat us. After some time checking with various other employees she agreed to seat us. We were given a nice table. As of the writing of this review, at 6:00 pm, I am looking at 5 open tables. Lol. In defense of the hostess and the restaurant, upon seating I was informed that she was 17 and that she was just doing her best to enforce the reservation rules. All in all, this made me and my husband amused, and I only mention it here in the hopes any future patrons will be able to have the same good humor. Honestly, who can be upset about a solid work ethic?
Finally, massive kudos to our server Michelle, who made the night fantastic with her attentiveness, charm, and wit. We would love to sit in her section again. Also, much love to Anthony, who kept our table so promptly clean, one might think he is psychic.
For the quality the dishes are well priced, the ambiance is quiet and romantic, but not too disinviting towards families with children.

Read moreMy first time I was there, the Gnocchi special was out of this world. It should probably be on the menu over the unexciting one they serve every day. The Duck, however, was terrible. The fat was not properly rendered, and the meat tasted old and reheated. It was very difficult to eat between the metallic taste and chewy texture. Some may say...oh, you just don't like duck. I say...nobody doesn't like duck when it's cooked properly. Also the server was a bit pompous and absent.
This time, the service was fantastic. I think her name was Kendra? The Spaghetti Carbonara was not good. The sauce was pasty and the eggs were scrambled, not tempered properly. It tasted so eggy and was difficult to eat. The breaded Veal Chop was outstanding. The breading and the technique used to cook it gave it so much flavor. The big problem, though, was they topped it with a very wet caprese salad with lots of oil right in the middle of the chop. The beautiful crispy crust they made was ruined, rendering most of the chop as a mess of mushy bread. So disappointing when places do that. They could still make a nice-looking dish with the caprese off the side of the chop and leave that delicious texture and taste on the veal.
Overall, this place has some real homeruns and some real duds. I just can't make sense of the inconsistency in technique. Clearly the kitchen and the head chef know how to cook and combine ingredients. I don't understand why it all goes out the window half the...
Read moreHighly disappointed in the service by a person named Lisa. Zero etiquette or table side manners from this rude service “professional”. Her opening statement to us when we arrived was “do you know what you want to eat?”. Call me crazy, but shouldn’t the first words upon entering a higher end restaurant be “Welcome to Cassariano, may I get you started with something to drink?” When we requested a drink, she literally slammed her book shut (the first of several times) and begrudgingly went to get our drinks. Upon her return she asked for our order, we ordered appetizers. She then asked for our main course order. When asked her to bring out the appetizers and then take our order, we were utterly shocked when she refused to do soand actually became argumentative which resulted in another slamming of her book and a good old fashioned huff and puff and she stormed away for a second time…. In an effort to keep this short, I’ll skip over her third trip to the table along with her third temper tantrum of the evening. Miraculously, a true professional by the name of Georgio appeared at our table, apologizing for Lisa’s behavior and convinced us to stay, which resulted in us receiving the service worthy of a higher end establishment. Dear management, please seriously consider parting ways with Lisa. This will allow her to find a profession that she may truly enjoy and thrive at….then again, such an opportunity may not exist for this...
