Sad to say that the owner for so many years of this great place has sold it. I will miss her spirited and welcoming attitude along with her two daughters and husband who did the cooking. A true Greek establishment. You were greeted when you came in the door with a big " hello"
After not seeing them today I discovered that they had sold it in May, 2021. I thought something was different when I did not get the greeting that has been customary to this place. The Greek Salad was average at best.. I noticed that they had also signs promoting Italian sandwiches in this Greek theme establishmentwhich also gave me a clue that things will be different. But the kicker was when I left and when up to the cashier paying the bill. In the past, Joy, the owner would be there and asked how everything was. Standing behind the cashier was a motionless man who I understand is the new owner. I paid the server who was standing next to him. He, the new owner said nothing like " Hi, I'm _ the new owner and glad to have you as a customer OR even " thanks for your business" OR how was the food OR hope to see you again. I guess he brings a new attitude to the place.
May I suggest changing the name of the place so that Joy's reputation is as she left it....perfect and friendly with great food.
Sad to see Joy gone from this place. I...
Read moreMy wife and I had lunch at Joy's Kouzine. We had planned on another restaurant in the same strip, but my wife remembered Joy's was there and we had been meaning to try it. My wife ordered the Zorba Crepe which had cheese, spinach, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. She asked for it without artichokes. She got a side salad (included with the crepe) which had an italian dressing. She said the dressing was good. The crepe was very well cooked. She enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Gyro Pita which included a choice of fries, rice pilaf or coleslaw. I opted for the coleslaw after checking whether it was a mayo-based coleslaw, which it is. The Gyro was again, very well done. The pita was cooked on the flattop and had a bit of a toasted crunch to it which was very good, and the amount of meat, onion, tomato and tzatziki sauce was well balanced. One of the best gyros I have had. The coleslaw was also very good although I wish it was a bigger serving (for me, the first good coleslaw we have had in Florida in almost a year). The service was good, the food was very good, and they were very friendly. From a price standpoint, I think there was more value than what we paid for. We will definitely...
Read moreFound this cozy little Cafe yesterday. Meet a friend for breakfast and it was fantastic. Our server nicky (im not 100% on her name. Sorry) was outstanding. Courteous, fun & had the patience of a saint, cause we asked a lot of questions. The vegetarian omelet was the freshest omelet I've had in years. And the fruit cup was so fresh, strawberries, pineapple, grapes and bananas, yum. My companion had the meat scrambler, potatoes and toast. She raved about her meal. Then we shared the special banana french toast. WOW. delicious. We will be back very soon to try lunch. Our only gripe was, and I'm sorry, the cashier/hostess keep screaming back to the kitchen through the window. And she was so loud. "JOOOOOEEEEEE JOEEEE" I'm guessing the cooks name?? We where the only ones in the restaurant, they let us in before they technically opened, so maybe it was so loud due to that. But when I say loud, I mean obnoxiously loud. Maybe a little more training is needed there? Or a quick walk into the kitchen to not deafin your patrons. We will without a doubt be back in the afternoon, and hopefully the yelling will have...
