We were looking for a nice sit down that WAS NOT seafood and walked into this place! They had a GREAT band performing that night! The bar was full but for a Sunday night the dining area was pretty empty, granted it was after 8pm. This is normal for us as we tend to play hard all day on vacation. Our server (I didn’t catch his name) seemed a little flighty. The food: I really wanted a good steak. It’s been a long time and I don’t like giving my money to corporations like Blooming Brands. The filet was a reasonably priced steak and my husband actually found Ribs on the same menu. He LOVES a good rack of baby back ribs. Unfortunately we were both disappointed with our meat selection. My steak was charged on the outside and overcooked. I ordered Medium and got Medium Well. My husband’s rack was dry and he didn’t order it that way. The vegetables were great, the sweet potatoes fries were perfectly cooked, even the coleslaw was acceptable. I rather enjoyed the Paprika. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. The lemon Drop Martini that was the special that night was really sweet. I house Pino Grigio had legs and wasn’t perfectly paired with a steak that warm evening. My husband rather enjoyed the Hazy IPA on tap! Parking wasn’t too bad that evening either! Idk if I’ll ever return but I still felt like a Queen that night!

Came here on a Friday night. There was a festival across the street which made the restaurant Very noisy. Food was OK. I would definitely eat here again on a quieter night, hopefully. We had the clam chowder, lobster chowder, chicken fajita, mahi sandwich, and corned beef sandwich. The clam chowder could use some more clams. The french fries are nice and crunchy, better than the sweet potato fries . Everything else was good. Not all the food came out at the same time, and some of the items were missing, and not quite right. But otherwise service was fine. We’ll try the restaurant again on a quieter night. Ate here again. They have live music and dancing starting at 8 PM. If you’d like a quieter dinner you can eat outside, which we did. We had a side salad , corned beef sandwich, blackened mahi sandwich, and a fried chicken sandwich. The side salad was good. The french fries were very good. The corned beef sandwich was good. The mahi sandwich was good. My son said the fried chicken sandwich had kind of a small patty on it. We will eat here again.

Some of the worst greediness in business I’ve seen in a long time. I’m a year round resident of Venice, FL. Today, St Patrick’s Day, I got dressed up in a long, pretty green dress and took my lunch hour off work to go enjoy an Irish lunch at T.J. Carneys. I take two steps in and was physically blocked by a man’s arm who I thought was joking and then all joking aside, said, “Do you have a stamp?”. No, I said. “Well, it’s a $10 cover charge.” I said, “Even just for lunch?”. I sighed and acquiesced, and said “I have a card, who can I pay?” He said, “Sorry, cash only!” I said, “You’re kidding?”. I was miffed and as I walked out muttered, “that’s ridiculous”. I heard him scream, “Only on St. Patrick’s Day!”. Like somehow that was supposed to make it better. Restaurants pulling this BS nonsense on holidays at a local joint is ridiculous. Nice job ripping off tourists and pissing off residents, TJ Carneys! DO BETTER. Oh and, Venice Fire Department- why don’t you go see if they’re are violating fire codes with the number of people piled up in there.

Pros: ~ David our server was very pleasant and attentive. I was surprised to learn he’s new to working there when we were on our way out. ~ The steak fajitas and chicken pot pie were very good. ~ We sat outside and even though we were right by the road it’s a nice area to sit in. You don’t feel like you are sitting in traffic. Cons: ~ Getting a seat outside was a bit strange. People were taking available seats as other got up to leave without going in and asking the hostess to be seated. She was keeping up with them pretty well but some slipped past her, not her fault though, people should know better. ~ Today at least, there seemed to be a lack of support staff for the kitchen. Silverware was one issue. Our meals were served without silverware. I asked the young woman who brought our food for a knife and fork, she said okay and left. We sat for a few minutes and our server came over to ask if everything was okay, we again asked for silverware and he went to get some. Again we sat for a while as our food was getting cold so I went inside to the hostess station where I had noticed someone had been rolling silverware into napkins when we first went in to ask to be seated. I figured I'd just get the silverware from there. No silverware this time. As I was looking around for the silverware I was approached by a young woman who was holding a tablet who asked me in an annoyed voice if she could help me. I told her why I was there, she asked who our server was and for a description of him. I told her he already knew, then she wanted to know where we were seated, I showed her and she told me she would “tell” him. I shook my head and walked away. As I was walking away she yelled out in a snotty voice “THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE!!” I have a suggestion, when a dishwasher and busperson is needed, little miss snotty should have the tablet taken out of her hands and she should be sent to do dishes and bus tables, at least then she would be...

My son and I went in between lunch and dinner. The manager set us at a booth in the bar area. The table still had some trash (a straw wrapper and what appeared to be a lemon seed) by the salt and pepper. I didn't make a fuss about it but made note that it was there. Our server was bubbly in her personality, not pushy on getting us to hurry and order. She tried to make a joke regarding my age (I'm 45) when I went to present my ID and she laughed at herself and assured me several more times that "that was funny." She had said I didn't even look 21.

On to the review of the food: we ordered pot stickers, potato skins, my son had a bacon and Bleu cheese burger and I had the open faced Reuben with onion rings. A day later my son said "that burger was goooood!" The Reuben was full of flavor and not overcooked and dried out. The onion rings were okay but didn't have the flavor like they were made there.

They don't have sweet tea. Which isn't a cardinal sin and I get a lot of northerners live in Florida and sweet tea is more of a southern thing but I was surprised that it's not on the menu. (My son ordered it.)

The server continued with the dry wit and was good at her job the food was good and would recommend. The only downgrade was the unclean table. The restaurant wasn't on a wait when we got there however there was a hiring all positions sign up when we got there so maybe it's a staffing supply issue.

It wouldn't keep me from going back. It wouldn't keep me from...

We were at the Venice Art Festival today and decided to stop here and have a drink and some lunch. It was pretty crowded and I told my husband I would go in and put us on the list for a table. There was an old red haired lady at the desk and I told her I wanted a table for two outside. She asked where the person was that I was with. I told her he was waiting outside. She started to take me to a table and again asked where the other person was. I told her he was outside. When we got to the table she said, "well where is he" By this time he was right beside me. I said he's right here. She left and the waitress came and took our order. We ordered a Bloody Mary. It was not good. Onion soup was good. Fish and chips was just OK. The waitress brought our check and I got the credit card out right away but she didn't take it. She went on to other tables. We were finishing our drinks and here comes the old red haired lady. She starts picking up our drinks and tells us we need to go because she has other people waiting. I told her I was waiting to pay my bill and she stormed off. The waitress passed our table three times after that and never picked up the card to pay for the meal. I finally went inside and asked for the manager told her what happened and paid my bill. This is why we don't go out much. I work hard for my money and times are tough. I certainly don't expect to be treated like that. I won't go...
