No self respecting patron of Asian descent would consider any food item here authentic. We are too polite so we will just not be repeat customers. The pho rice noodles are overcooked. Timing needs to be mastered. The pho broth makes too many substitutions for the correct techniques and spices (proper charring of onions and cinnamon stick, etc.). Pho Bo Hue is overwhelmingly shrimp flavored. The flavor is really off. At least, they offer full disclosure in the menu description.
I was disturbed by the young Asian male waiter abruptly telling me that my waiter was the Latino male waiter. As a customer, I found his tone abrasive and unacceptable. I could not ask anyone for anything except the Latino waiter, he dares preach to the customer. I found it odd that all the Asian patrons were districted to the Latino waiter. The Latino waiter did not provide place settings for two of the four at our table. I was finally forced to ask. This is a gross oversight in the service industry. He also did not check on how we were doing until right before our check was presented. He was very good at looking busy, not making eye contact and laying as low as possible during our meal.
The television screens with all the constant commercials felt like being in the QVC studio. It was not conducive to a relaxing and pleasant dining environment. It felt cheap and hyper consumerist. Suffice it to say, my family of five will not frequent this establishment again. Don’t forget your opportunity for revenue is only as good as the last experience of the customer. Not worth leaving...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible authentic Vietnamese dining experience at Best Pho U in Vernon Hills! The moment we walked in, we were greeted with outstanding service that made us feel right at home.
We started with perfectly crispy fried calamari that was tender on the inside and delicately seasoned. For our main courses, the round eye steak pho was phenomenal - rich, aromatic broth with tender beef slices and fresh herbs. The bun thit nuong cha gio (vermicelli with grilled pork and spring rolls) offered a delightful combination of flavors and textures.
The grilled pork banh mi sandwich was exceptional - crusty French bread filled with savory marinated pork, crisp vegetables, and the perfect balance of sauces. We washed it all down with refreshing Thai iced tea that complemented the meal beautifully.
What truly sets Best Pho U apart is their commitment to authentic Vietnamese cuisine and impeccable service. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring our dining experience was perfect from start to finish.

Read moreMy friend and I visited this restaurant to sample Pho, and we were impressed by the wonderful atmosphere. Upon arrival, we were treated with great respect and promptly seated. We ordered the spring shrimp rolls, unaware that they came with a peanut sauce. After tasting it, we informed the waitress that we did not enjoy it and preferred not to have it since we were not informed about the sauce beforehand. The waitress explained the dish's popularity and mentioned that they do not offer free samples. Although she had already served our soup, we expressed our willingness to pay for the appetizer but requested it be removed from our table. To our surprise, she informed us that we were no longer welcome and needed to leave. We had not come to the restaurant seeking anything for free; we had planned this outing based on the restaurant's excellent reviews. The disrespectful treatment we received was unacceptable, and it is inappropriate for staff to behave in such a manner. My friend and I felt embarrassed, as we frequently dine out and have never encountered such negativity. We are not locals; we were simply dropping off a friend, and this experience has ensured that we...
