Paesano Pizzeria — Restaurant in Vernon Township

It wasn't amazing! ⭐️ My family and I walked in and we were pleased to see that they had white slices. We ordered our food only to see that the person making pizza (tall guy with a chef hat) was touching money and then digging into the pizza dough! He was preparing the dough without washing his hands. We ate pizza at about 2:30 on 2/22/2024 and as he was serving us one worker came from the back of the kitchen..the tall pizza man with a chefs hat handed a guy some money and than proceeded to go ahead and stick his DIRTY hands in the pizza dough. We later on see that this person who was making the pizza touched the garbage and than CONTINUED to touch the PIZZA with his DIRTY HANDS!!!! He didn't wash his hands once. He went from the cash register touching money, to touching food and after he went to touch the RAW CHICKEN and again didn't even wash his hands once. This is very unsanitary and because of this I give this place a 1 and that one is for the pizza being decent! It was very very very greasy and cheesy. For example my daughter wasn't even able to pick up the pizza let alone trying to eat it. There was absolutely no undercarriage. It was a flop...literally. It was meh but because of it being very unsanitary it kind of ruined my experience with this pizzeria. I also was very upset to see that there were no bottles of hand sanitizer...call us germaphobes but I find this nasty, terrible, and overall just disgusting. Please, please, please wash your hands before someone in the community gets sick! We don't need another Covid-19 breakout. Please make sure your workers are helping the community by being clean. thank you If you don’t believe me look at you cameras see what you did today between 2:30 pm...

TL:DR - The cheese pizza was about average for the area. The Sicilian was not the best.

Decided to try this place, as when I go through the intersection I often thought, "Oh right, there's a pizza place there." And that is very accurate. It is a place to get pizza.

The plain slice I got was average; similar to the other dozen pizza places in town. Cheese was good, sauce was there, crust wasn't too thick. It was fine. It was not the best, or worst pizza I've ever had. It was pizza, and that's about it.

The Sicilian slice I got was not the best. As you can see in the photo, they make round Sicilian pies, and you get a wedge. It was like eating a whole loaf of bread. The crust was over an inch thick. There was not much cheese on top, and in some patches there wasn't any cheese at all. Similarly, the sauce was patchy and barely there. I would not get this again.

Will I go back? I guess so. If I'm in the area, and want some pizza similar to all the other pizza in the area. Was hoping it would stand out in some good ways, but that was...

Here’s my honesty with ZERO opinion. I got a large half sausage and half plain pizza pie. Very greasy. Cheese doesn’t even stay on the pizza. The pizza itself is paper thin and the cheese on top is gallons of cheese. Adequate amount of marinara and the crust is very thick. Garlic knots were also ordered and there was a pool of grease in there as well which leaked through the bag as well as on top of the pizza box during the delivery I would assume.

My opinion: Very cheese and the dough was very thin. I run a restaurant in matawan and never have seen so much grease used in pizza, it’s like they poured fryer grease all over it to season it. Garlic knots tasted very doughey and were severely undercooked. Health inspectors need to reevaluate their servsafe or food handling...
