We tried the Vernon Connecticut new Square One pizza. This was their soft opening. The service was not good. That could be attributed to new Staffing trying to handle a large load of people coming in at once. Maybe once the store gets fully up and running the service we'll get better. The fried cheese here was fantastic. We tried four different pizzas. The Detroit pepperoni pizza was the best of the four. The second piece we tried was to Paramus. That consisted of Meatball mushrooms and a very thin crust pizza. The second pizza we tried was the chicken cacciatore. This was the worst of the four pizzas. It had very little taste at all. The last pizza was the Piggly wiggly. That seemed to be a good pizza consisting of fig and prosciutto and a pizza. The time we were there, they were out of prosciutto, and we substitute that for bacon. It was still a decent pizza even with bacon substitution. They do offer happy hour from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. the happy hour list consists of a good selection of food that they have at half price. The other happy hour consists of a set list of drinks that they have great prices on period they do have a big bar which has a white offering of selections. One things on that was really nice was a flight of beers that you could choose for different types of pizza. The location we were at had a pickup drive-thru window. It looks like people are ordering ahead and just had to go to the drive-up window and have their pizza orders delivered to them. This is really a great idea. One of the crazy things that they give you when you sit down is fried spaghetti coated in salt as almost like a pretzel Rod served to you. Half the people at our table liked it the other half thought it had no taste. I guess you can judge this yourself. There was plenty of parking at this location. Our waiter said that they're going to put an awning out front to help block some of the Sun that was coming in the front windows. I would definitely give this place a try once they're fully up and running and the building is completely staffed and ready...
Read moreWell we waited several years for Square Peg Pizza to open in Vernon. Seemed like the renovation of the building was perhaps stalled by the Covid pandemic. It finally opened! We waited a few days and ordered through the Slice App. Imagine our disappointment when we waited for 2 hours in the parking lot for 4 pizzas. Oh well we will enjoy it anyway !! Well here begins the major disappointment. The hungry group cannot wait to taste this new yummy pizza. What can only be described as utter disgust in what we were given as a first time representation of their pizza offers sets in. One of the pizzas was completely the wrong pizza.. the crust was soggy and limp. The brussel sprouts on one of the pizzas never even made it onto the pizza. One would think that a topping would show up in some form. But alas not a brussel sprout to be found. Disappointment in flavor and quality gets crammed into the refrigerator. Everyone is simply let down. Then the next day comes and the fun begins when the line to the bathroom is steady and everyone is sick. An entire day of stomach cramps and diarrhea ensues. 5 people fighting over one bathroom. Thank for that Square Peg Pizza! We recover and reach out to Slice explaining the sour taste we have over this horrendous experience. The rep says he will reach out to the establishment with our concerns. What is Square Pegs solution you ask? Money back? Apology? No that would make too much business sense. They offer a code for $30 off our next purchase! Lol. Are you completely tone deaf Square Peg Pizza??? Can you not read the room? In what universe do you think we would walk back into that nightmare? Hey kids wanna go get some sub par pizza from Square Peg Pizza? They may get your order out to you in a few hours and it may come with a side of nausea and diarrhea!! Ypu earned this review Square Peg Pizza! You can keep your $30 certificate and perhaps learn a lesson that first impressions count. Word of mouth is invaluable and smart people will avoid this mess...
Read moreI gotta say. This place sounded like the place to go eat and have a good time. It's not. I decided to place an order today to support the local highschool volleyball team and what a disappointment it was.
Like most other restaurants their delivery service is trough door dash. Where you play russian roulette when it comes to the delivery driver. I opened the door and I could clearly tell items from my order where missing to what the delivery guy just plain told me this is what they gave me and walked away.
So I called the restaurant where some girl answered the phone in the most rude way possible. I explained the situation and tried to see what could be done. To which she pretty much said we gave him the items. It's on the driver and promptly hanged up the phone.
Had no recourse but to now drive across town to try to remedy this situation. This place has barely any parking and some sort of weird drive thru setup. Proceeded to go inside and it was just so loud I had to shout just so they could hear me.
I explained the situation to the manager who promptly put the fault back at the delivery service that they chose to use btw. No I'm sorry no let's see what we can do to make the situation better.
So I pretty much had to explain to him that because I ordered trough their website and not the delivery app it's on them to remedy the situation. Now I'm really annoyed. They threw another pizza and off I go back home.
What a disaster of a pizza. Burned crust , burned toppings and well undercooked in the middle. They didn't even bother to cut it properly.
It's fair to say that there is a much better alternative in the area for wood fire pizza. I will definitely will not sponsor this place again.
I really hope they at least give the school the...
