I want to start with saying that nobody enjoys leaving a negative review. But in this case, I feel like it’s warranted. I realize Vero beach isn’t New York or even West Palm, but still. How hard is it to make a decent cup of coffee and muffin? So this morning I ordered a plain cup of coffee, a breakfast sandwich with bacon and a blueberry muffin. So I sat by the window, which has cute seating, the ambiance was pretty nice, music was fun, the decor was adorable. Overall, I feel like this place has all it takes in terms of comfort and appeal for a coffee shop. However, the coffee was bitter, so was it the end of the pot? Or do they not heat it enough? Or is it simply the brand? I don’t know, but it wasn’t good. Simply put. The muffin tasted like the ones that come in the plastic wrap when you get it at the corner store, the blueberries (if they are real) were hard and squishy if that makes any sense. The breakfast sandwich was ok, too much of the sauce they put and the bread isn’t ideal for a breakfast sandwich. I know in general, Americans aren’t picky when it comes to food. So maybe that’s why most people rate this place so high. But I don’t think it deserves more than 3 stars. I believe if this type of food was served in.a big city, the shop wouldn’t last long. But as I said previously, the decor and ambiance are amazing. Maybe the muffin, sandwich and coffee were off today. I’m not sure I want to try again… but maybe it would be worth a shot and I’ll post...
Read moreI moved to Vero about 2 years ago. When I first discovered this place, I was super happy. Looking for good coffee in this small town is not easy. There are hardly any places where I approve of their coffee.
This coffee shop was the perfect little place for me to have a good quality cup of coffee and also spend a quiet moment enjoying my café.
At first I started going about 2/3 times per week. I have been a regular for about 2yrs now.
Lately I have been going less and less because the service has definitely changed. If I go in the mornings, I barely get a "Good Morning", from the staff. Their faces in the morning are not happy faces, they clearly don't want to be there. If I go in the afternoons, the crew is much friendlier. I get a much better energy vibe in this place in the afternoons.
I am not sure what has happened since I first started going, but the energy there has certainly shifted to a not so great energy ambiance. That keeps me going much less. And the service keeps getting worst and slower, especially in the mornings. I keep going because their coffee quality is still the best in Vero.
That being said, I am hoping for new coffee cafes to open, so that I can stop going to Coffee House 1420 for good. NOT liking the energy in there...
Read moreIn my opinion, I thought my overall experience of Coffee House 1420 was okay at best and think Vero Beach has better alternatives.
Food: I had an iced latte since they could not make what I originally ordered (I’ll come back to this) and the lunch cubano sandwich. In my opinion, the bread tasted stale, the mustard flavor was overpowering, and the lunch cubano sandwich did not have a lot of meat.
Service: The service, in my opinion, was a large downfall given when I ordered a menu item over ice the owner gave me large push back and in my opinion essentially refused to make it. In my opinion, I feel like it’s odd to have a coffee shop as a business and not be able to accommodate your customer needs and requests, especially on a hot summer day in Florida. If I recall correctly, I believe the owner or manager (Will) even said, “just tell me what you want to see in your cup.” In my opinion, this is not the service I would expect from a coffee shop that wants to charge $6 for a coffee.
Atmosphere: The location does have really great decor! It reminded me of a local coffee house in a major city and really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant. It was steady when I went to the location shortly after lunchtime...
