Several years ago, we ate at KK and didn't go back. KK doesn't accept credit or debit cards, being a cash only business. This is very inconvenient. Although there is an ATM machine inside the restaurant, this doesn't resolve the problem since a fee is added to each transaction, which only adds to the cost of the meals. 3 weeks ago, we decided to go back, in spite of the fact that, like a lot of senior citizens, we don't like to carry cash. The place was busy, but we found a table and within 5 minutes we had placed our orders. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon & hash browns. I ordered biscuits and gravy, grits & bacon. Our food arrived within a reasonable length of time, but my wife's hash browns were stone cold. She requested they be warmed up or replaced, which was done immediately. Her scrambled eggs were served flat as a pancake. UGH! Folks, teach your cooks how to scramble eggs. We're in the South...not New York for God's sake! The meal was edible, but the waitress should have checked to see all food items were cooked as ordered & hot. The next time we ate at KK was on a Sunday. Big Mistake! The place was packed & there's no place to sit to await a free table, except outside, which wouldn't work in in climate weather. After about 15 minutes, a waiting list appeared. After another 20 minute wait, we were seated. My wife ordered same meal; I ordered pancakes, grits & bacon. Again, her pancakes were flat - ugh. My pancakes were yuk! The taste was lamentable & not good at all. In the future, if I want good pancakes, I'll go to JD's Corner Deli in Sebastian where George makes the best cakes I"ve ever eaten. I ordered sausage patties, specifying pork patties - only to be served turkey sausage. Not very good - ugh! The next time we ate at KK was the worst! After we were seated, our waitress (who supposedly had 13 years experience at KK) let us sit without coffee or taking our order for 15 minutes. Finally, she paused by our table long enough to ask us what we wanted to drink. We both ordered coffee. The waitress retrieved the coffee pot and refilled at least 5 tables before she got to ours - and of course, the coffee was nearly cold. We told her we were ready to order, and she said she'd be right back only to disappear. When she returned, I ordered the half order of French toast, grits and smoked sausage. My wife ordered eggs over well, with link sausage. I was informed that, at 10 AM, they were out of grits! WOW! By that time, we need our coffee refilled and she promptly did so, with lukewarm coffee. 20 minutes later, after 2 more refills of "not hot" coffee, our waitress breezed by our table and I asked her how much longer it would be for our orders to be delivered. At that time, we had been there 45 minutes without food. She said she thought the orders were now ready and went off to get them. When the meals arrived, my wife's eggs were not done well but were runny; my hash browns were stone cold, the French toast was not hot enough to melt butter and the smoked sausage was anything but. We tried to locate our waitress, but she had disappeared - again! Finally, about 10 minutes later, she appeared but came no where near our table. Finally, she approached with a warm pot of coffee and we informed here that our meals were inedible and asked her to remove the eggs from our bill since my wife couldn't eat them. We reported this to the manager, who, to his credit, told us we didn't have to pay for our meals. However, that didn't excuse the very poor service we had received, nor did it make up for the poor quality of food. We don't be returning to KK, with or without love. The place is too small to accommodate the crowded dining room. The food is not good enough to put up with the cash only environment and the wait staff have...
Read moreWe are from the area and were looking for a nice family run place to eat. We looked on google and found Kountry Kitchen. We went in and stood there for 8 minutes before a staff member said “you seat yourself”. So we sat down, and waited almost five minutes for a menu. We did notice that people that were clearly regulars walked in and were waited on immediately. We ordered coffee and were ready to order food but the waitress said she’d be back. She cane back 15 minutes later after taking the order of a group of 6 that walked in 15 minutes after us. When we finally ordered, I ordered 2 eggs, home fries and toast. My husband order 2 eggs and asked to substitute home fries for French fries (it was a dollar up charge) and we were okay with that. He also upcharged his toast to an English muffin. About 25 minutes after ordering our food came out, minus the English muffin which we were told was coming right out. NOONE came to or even near our table for 10 minutes and I was done eating. My husband was still waiting on his English muffin and by now his eggs were cold. (Forgot to mention he got 12 French fries for the $1 upcharge). When the waitress walked over she said how is everything as she picked up my plate and my husband said very nicely “I’m still waiting on my English muffin, and I think my eggs are probably cold at this point”. The waitress literally laughed and said “you want me to get you and English muffin”? My husband replied “ my eggs are ice cold now” to which she responded “do you want the English muffin”? He finally said yes and can I get some hot eggs? She then went in the back pointed to our table while laughing with the other waitress and they brought him eggs and an English muffin about 10 minutes later. (He had already eaten his country fried steak). Then we go to pay and they say “we don’t take cr dit or debit but there is an ATM near the resister for a $3 fee. So I paid $3 plus the 2.50 fee my bank charges. If I had to describe the place in three words I would say horrible, unprofessional, and disrespectful. If you go, good luck.... you’ll need it and bring cash for the food that...
Read moreI have heard about Kountry Kitchen FOREVER! I finally went and honestly, I was not impressed. The egg was under cooked. (Looked as though the cook scrambled my egg, poured it on the flat top, let it cook and then flipped it onto my plate so the top was the cooked underside. I did not finish my eggs. I asked for bacon. I got some of the saltiest bacon I've had in my life. (Now, that could be me just getting older or it being early I wasn't thinking about sausage or bacon. Or both.) I also asked for hash browns and a biscuit. The biscuit had cooled off a LOT by the time it got to me. As did the hashbrowns. Which were starchy and DEFINITELY undercooked. Our server left her tip on the table throughout the entire meal. Y'all cann keep Kountry Kitchen. I like my little breakfast/lunch spot in Sebastian. (Although, we REALLY miss Wanda. She needs to come...
