This was our first visit. We had not previewed the menu and only one friend has told me she has been there (for pizza and drinks). We were tired and hot. He from working around the yard, and I from having just returned from a 4 day visit with family. And, we rode to the restaurant with the top down, so our hair was outrageous, and my clothes didn't even match! We arrived 30 minutes before opening and nearly went elsewhere. That would have been a BIG, HUGE mistake. But, we decided to visit the art gallery a few doors down (and you should, too!). When we returned, we were kindly greeted, in spite of our appearance. We were informed that the reservation list was full for the evening, but if we thought we would be finished within an hour and 45 minutes, there was availability. (I appreciate that because I have been delayed getting a reserved table in the past, due to lingering patrons). So, we were seated and within minutes, our server, Pedro G. greeted us and took our drink order, a sweet tea, and my unsweetened tea. Now, this may sound crazy, but this was the BEST unsweetened tea I have EVER had. It wasn't bitter, sour, or sharp, like unsweet tea usually is. I wish I could make it that good at home. When Pedro returned, we ordered our entrees. Pedro was asked whether he recommended the Grilled Meatloaf or the....(we will never know what the other entree was because) Pedro quickly stopped the question with his answer, "No contest, the grilled meatloaf." Then Pedro asked for my order. I said, "Well, whatever is 2nd best"! No, I ordered the fried fish tacos. That day, the fish was Cobia. It was outstanding. And, Pedro was correct, the Grilled Meatloaf was fabulous. I highly recommend it, and the gravy was perfectly proportioned to not overpower the flavor of the grilled meat. I do not want to ignore the sides. Mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables were with the meatloaf. There was yellow squash and corn (I think shoepeg). Amazing. It was not overcooked, or over salted, or over buttered. It was tasty and had a fresh, pleasing crunch. My sides were black beans and white rice. Since I despise black beans, Pedro suggested double rice. I am not a fan of rice, either, but I was once again blindsided with how great this rice was. It did NOT taste like a clump of starch! It had a flavor I cannot describe. It did not seem to be the standard "chicken broth", but perhaps a brine or vinegar. But it wasn't sour or sweet. It was just GOOD. I did not mention that this was my birthday, because we didn't want any extra attention, nor anything "free", and I can wait another year to be serenaded! And, since I had been blessed with too many birthday pastries this week, we were going to pass on the desserts. BUT, because the entrees were so good, we could not help but wonder how good the desserts might be. We decided to share the Banana Butter Cake. WOW. It was light, not overly sweet, and the perfect finish. We were not able to finish our entrees since we wanted room for that dessert, and Pedro had brought us a carry out container for the remainder. I don't want to forget to mention the impeccable service. Pedro was observant and kept us hydrated without us ever having to ask. The staff and management stopped by our table to see if we needed anything several times, but were never intrusive. It was an overall exceptional experience and we intend to visit in the future and try the pizza. PS: I forgot to mention the garnish! The garnish on the tacos reminded me of a wild weed, that as children, we would pretend to make salads and have picnics with, and eat them from our yards. We were told they were "micro greens". But, I would not have been upset if they had said it was wild sour grass! It paired perfectly...
Read morePOST & VINE A very contemporary dining experience. The ambiance and décor are very refreshing. With a wide-open floor plan and a comforting fire pit to enjoy a nice glass of Brandy if that's you thing with friends. The layout is spacious and you’re not elbow to elbow here. Victoria the hostess greeted me when I entered and sat me at a table near the bar. My server Mikelle greeted me with a smile and a warm introduction. I started my dining experience with a tall glass of Iced Tea. She asks if I needed a few minutes to look over the menu in which I replied yes please. In about 3-5 minutes she returned and took the rest of my order. Which I am not usually ordering pork if you see my other posts I like my Prime Rib but for some reason the menu drew my attention to the 12 oz. Duroc Pork Chop....with the description starting with "Hand cut then brined, marinated and Grilled"!!!! OH, that sounded so delicious. It continues, " Served with Apple Chutney, Mashed potatoes and Brussel Sprouts" They ran out of Brussel and gave me sauteed green beans in a butter garlic base. DONE al dente as well. PERFECT, Nice job CHEF! Along with the meal I ordered a glass of G- Batasiolo Moscoto. I will always take the time to complement an establishment when they hit all the right buttons. Tiffiny was the manager on duty and we spoke briefly, but I let her know the the staff was on point. (NOICE JOB ALL) I'd say that they did on my visit. I hope other folks take the time to do that as well. It seems to me that is that we tend to criticize more than we complement. So, I do try to step up and try to make a difference and I hope I can encourage you all to do the same. This is a very hard job and even that is an understatement. In my years of talking to servers and managers in this industry it can be very unappreciative from time to time for them. We as customers complain more than we compliment. Don't get me wrong if it is warranted then by all mean give the management the heads up on an issue. But even if the service was OK not the greatest or the food was good not great. put a smile on somebody’s face before you leave and take the time to compliment the staff. Thanks for reading my review. Enjoy the...
Read moreVery disappointed. ive gone to Vine and Grape probably about five times. The first time was approximately a year ago. I sat at a table in the lovely outside dining area. I have nothing positive to say about that experience. Recently, I walked in to the bar area with a friend. The bar tender was absolutely wonderful, I think his name is Jeff. He gave us a warm welcome and was very professional. Although he became busy, not once did he neglect us. We have gone in a few times since, sat at the bar and was treated fantastic. i decided to go in for dinner at Vine and Grape, because its one of few dog friendly restaurants. i was greeted in a timely manner i chose to enter through the front patio gate because i had my dog. It took a few minutes longer to be seated, but it was understandable. It appeared tables had to be separated but only one waitress was attempting to do this. After being seated it was strange events it took an hour and 15 minutes from this point to get soup and sald and i had to ask what the specials were my tea ran out shotly after my soup and salad were delivered i spoke to waitress one time right after my meal was delivered and that was only because she thought i flagged her down. She passed by me numerous times after that giving no attention to me, my empty glass nor my empty soup bowl that should have been cleared away i noticed every table had water glasses as i sat and waited with the exception of mine. I would have like to order an additional item, but After an hour and ten minutes, I was annoyed and wanted desperately to leave. When the waitress finally made it to my table a I asked for my bill, "it did not take her long to return to collect the money. Very prompt on that. I was hungry, thirsty and annoyed I fid not eat my salad because I had nothing to wash down my first few bites with. Just because I was dining alone and my tab may not have been as large as my surrounding tables, I should not be treated as an unwanted customer. I have found that when dining alone servers tend to by pass you often Vine and Grape is as the top of my list of where Not to dine alone. Soup was delicious, salad was dry, service...
