I'll start by saying we have been to Waldos a few times and usually start with a cold beer to destress from a long drive to get there, then we order food. This quiet time before we order is one of the things that makes Waldos special. It's calm, relaxing and the location comes into its own. Each visit the food, service and ambiance are just what we needed. Until our last visit! We checked into where we were staying then went to Waldos, we got a beachside table straight away. The server eventually came over, wearing sunglasses, serving other tables that arrived after us. That's fine as we are in no hurry, he had 2 waters. We didn't get the usual greeting, "Hi my name is Will and I'll be your server this evening" no nothing not even his name, we got that from someone else. We got very little communication, all he said, notepad ready was "what are you ordering?" We said "just a beer for now we will order in a while" He walked off without a word and brought back our beers. Again no smile no nothing we thanked him again but it made no difference he just walked away. A couple of people asked us to take their photo, they were celebrating an 89th birthday. We duly obliged and stood talking to them. Will came back and seemed put out they were even there and asked again if we were going to order, we said "shortly." He didn't seem to like that, even the couple said "what's his problem?" We chatted a bit longer and they left. Will passed by again so us I asked him "could you bring another beer please when you have a minute?' no acknowledgement just an upraised palm as if to say "wait!" That's just rude. I said to my wife I don't know what's wrong with him but he's not going to ruin our evening or make us feel like we don't want to come back. We like it here. When he did bring the beer, it took sometime, I thanked him, his response was "ummm" and off he walked. I'm biting my lip now. Waldos was not busy there was at least 6 empty beachside tables and no one waiting, Will was sat in chair by the hostess table, legs crossed on his phone as he had nothing to do I guess. We decided on our food order prompted by what the table next to us had ordered as it looked good .The next time Will came over I asked him to bring me another beer but he blurted out "You know you have order food to sit here" we were astonished by what he said not only because of the content but that was the most words he has spoken to us since we arrived. I asked "are you alright?' as he had been off with us from the moment we sat down. He said he wouldn't get another beer but he would fetch the manager. Wow this guy is having a bad day! Two things spring to mind, firstly his comment about us eating is mute as we have never been to Waldos and not eaten. Secondly if that is the rule did he tell us, is there a sign? NO! Plus there are lots of empty tables so we are not keeping other potential customers waiting. The whole thing is bizarre as we wouldn't have a problem with that rule anyway. A few minutes passed Will returned to his chair and didn't move and no manager. So I decided to go and interrupt his rest to find out what is happening. I asked politely but firmly "are you going to get me my drink and have you asked for the manager?" He just sat there and said "the manager would assign us another server and he would not get me my drink". I replied "that is probably the best decision you have made all day". This guy should not be customer facing. Still determined not to let this one person ruin things I went back to the table and asked another server to fetch the manger as I do not know if Will actually did request one. That server was as courteous and prompt as we have come to expect from the staff here. The manager was there in about a minute. She listened and said we would have another server assigned. We placed our food order and enjoyed it. My ratings have to reflect Will the server, had he not been there it would be 5's all round as is usual here. Thank you to the manager and the reassigned server. You...

Read moreMy recent visit to Waldo's was nothing short of a nightmare, with an experience that epitomized the epitome of poor hospitality and abysmal management. From the moment my party arrived, we were greeted by a void of acknowledgment as if we were invisible patrons disrupting an otherwise serene establishment.
Upon entering, no one bothered to extend so much as a nod in our direction. After an uncomfortably long wait, we approached what appeared to be the host—though their disinterested demeanor suggested otherwise. Without an ounce of apology for the neglect, we were informed that we could expect a staggering hour-long wait for a table. As if this weren't exasperating enough, the host had the audacity to inform us that we would be the last individuals seated for the evening, as if our presence was a nuisance to their operation.
Deciding that our time and dignity were better spent elsewhere, we ventured outside to weigh our options. To our bemusement, a stranger approached us with suggestions for alternative dining venues. It was only after the fact that this man revealed himself to be the manager of Waldo's. His cavalier attitude was as perplexing as it was infuriating, as he callously informed us that not only would we not be seated at all, but also had the gall to ask if we were interested in lending a hand in the kitchen. This encounter left me dumbfounded. How does a restaurant, purportedly in the business of hospitality, manage to exhibit such blatant disregard for its patrons? The incompetence and lack of professionalism displayed by both the staff and management at Waldo's are unparalleled in my dining experiences.
In conclusion, I urge potential diners to steer clear of Waldo's unless they have a penchant for disappointment and disrespect. As for me and my companions, we took our appetites—and our business—elsewhere, where our patronage was valued and our presence acknowledged. We enjoyed a lovely meal and service at the...
