This was a Mother's Day lunch, so we knew it would be crazy busy. That said, the service was horribly slow. The first time the manager came to check on us, we had been there so long he thought we were getting ready to leave. Nope, still waiting for our order. Notwithstanding, the food was very good; good enough that we'll return when it's not a holiday. Mom ordered 2 slices of French Toast with bananas and chocolate syrup and a decaffeinated coffee. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with Hash browns, a side of grits, and a latte. Both coffees were delicious, although the latte was quite small for the price. The French Toast was phenomenal; soft, creamy, fresh quality bananas, good chocolate syrup drizzled on them and plentiful. Although it said 2 slices, it was actually 4 slices because each slice was a half of large Texas size bread. Mom ate hers until she was full and we had 2 slices to share. The eggs Benedict were absolutely delicious with the eggs cooked perfectly, a nice slice of Canadian bacon under each and on top of the English Muffin. The Hollandaise sauce was seasoned perfectly and it had plenty on each egg. The sauce was almost a little too rich for me, but my husband finished what I couldn't. The hash browns were hot and crispy. The side of grits was hot, cooked to a rich consistency, and perfect. Even my husband enjoyed them although he's not a grits fan like me. Overall, a delicious meal and reasonably priced. Like I said, we'll return and highly recommend them. We enjoyed looking at the Highwaymen pictures and telling Mom...
Read moreVisited on Sunday, May7th. Two adults and a child. We didn’t have to wait long to be seated. Good variety of food choices. LONG LONG wait times to get food or drink. We ordered a BLT and their breakfast combo with bacon. My son ordered a side of bacon and side of sausage links. Somehow that got confused with French fries. We waited well over an hour for our food. We watched another couple that sat well after us get their food first. We ordered their hot chocolate and Moche latte as well. Both very very bitter. How is hot chocolate bitter I ask ??? Once our food finally arrived it was in bits and pieces. By the time I got my food, my husband and son were almost completely done eating. I asked for poached eggs over medium with hollandaise sauce. My eggs were undercooked. The hollandaise scrambled. The portion of home fries was small and minuscule. Not enough to fill a belly after waiting over an hour for food. Their bacon was over cooked and too crispy. On that note, my sons bacon looked and tasted like over crispy bacon while mine tasted bitter and burnt. Overall, not really impressed with this for breakfast. Maybe in a year (if they are still around) I will revisit for lunch or dinner and see how they...
Read moreThis little eatery was excellent. Thought we'd try it for breakfast and it did not disappoint.
I had: Crab Benedict. This is one of my favorite breakfasts. However, instead of just tossing on some crab meat, it was a seasoned crab cake as a bed for the delicately poached egg to rest on. The light blanket of freshly made hollandaise pulling the whole entree together was excellent.
She had: Denver or Western omelette. The eggs were cooked and wrapped perfectly. Vegetables had beautifully sauteed color from the flat top while still remaining crisp and tasting like veggies instead of oil or butter. Swiss cheese was selected instead of cheddar.
My only reason for giving 4 stars is: In the omelette lunch meat ham was used instead of cubing up an actual ham or ham steak. I know it's petty, everything else was very well made...
