I like to read over other reviews before I try a place, then try or evaluate some of the things others have been critical of, or effusive about.
The order: A single burger with cheese and bacon, with a large side of onion rings to go.
I've been in Victoria for about 3 years. I have a particular obsession for onion rings and have eaten the various offerings from the area resturants since I've been here. Ramsey's has hand battered O Rings and they seem like I should like them. Unfortunately, they are tasteless and simply static matter. Jims are crunchy (The order was picked up for me, so I got them much after the order) and flavorful. I don't understand the people that say the onion rings are "just ok". I'd rank them about 3rd of what I've eaten nationally in my 49 years. That's pretty good.
The burger had a nice texture and was jucy. It was a burger, and wasn't spectacular, but it was pretty darn good. The whole of the order really is what cause me to give my first five star rating. I've been here twice. The first time I came specifically to try the O rings, so this is the second iteration for them. This was my first burger.
I got exactly what I wanted, at a reasonable price for what I got. They are priced about what the national chains are, and for what you get, not to mention supporting a local business, I think is very...
Read moreOld school drive-up atmosphere. Think Dairy Queen, dripping with American patriotism. Ordered the big burger with cheese and fries. Along with an order of jalapeno poppers. The burger came wrapped in waxed paper. The bun was buttered and toasted. The lettuce was crisp, and the tomatoes were ripe and thick along with dill pickle chips. Grill onions were subbed along with mustard and mayo. While the patty wasn't hand formed it was plenty seasoned and cooked on a flat top. Plenty juicy. I went to the counter to ask for a small container of ketchup, because I don't like to make a mess on the tray. The manager said they don't have ketchup, that's why there were packers on the counter. I asked her for a small tub like they served the ranch in for the poppers. I received it and made my dip. A few minutes later the manager came to the table to apologize, saying that their vendor hadn't made their delivery. She didn't want me to feel she was being rude. That meant a lot in this age of poor customer service. 9/10 would go back for a...
Read moreOnly gave this a two because I as hungry and actually ate part of it but it was awful. Ordered a fish sandwich to go and the bottom bun was so hard and dried out I threw it away so I had only a top bun and the square, McDonald's style piece of fish. I could have lived with that even but it was tasteless, other than the vague aftertaste of old oil. Even the tomatoes were tasteless. There was one dime sized shadow of tarter sauce and that was it. McDonald's fish sandwiches are 100% better than this was. I was really surprised that it was so awful. I was expecting real fish, not a formed square of fish. At least something with flavor. First and last time eating there. I would have taken it back except it's like 18 miles each way from the house to the restaurant and definitely not worth the drive...
