I grew up in this town and the thing I miss the most is Edo. Well now it's called Kobe but I know it in my heart as Edo. My parents ate at this place for as long as I can remember. I was okay with my McDonald's as a kid, Subway and Panda as I was entering double digits. I never understood why my parents liked it.
Then, I got into it a year before I moved out of Victorville. I really wished I ate there sooner. I truly miss the glossy teriyaki sauce that's poured into the chicken and noodle plater. I've gone back to visit family and whenever I go, I have to go and get an order before I leave town. Most of the time the whole family goes and we all get an order and we end up staying till closing time because we just enjoy our time together while enjoying our platers.
Here's the deal, I got the habit of scrambling my whole bowl at different establishments so I can make sure I get an equal serving of everything, but I just can't bring myself to shake the plater or mix it around with my fork because it's just not right to do it to something so good, pure and of my few instant connections to my past. It just brings me back to simpler times, where the world was simple in the eyes of a child. It would remind me of when I couldn't even finish the damn thing, but I sure did try. It just really brings me back like when I watch Toy Story or My Neighbor Totoro. When you're watching the movie and finish it, you feel all happy and bubbly because the story just made you feel like a kid again.
The first time I was to return to Edo, I was excited to not just only get a plater but to come back and try their new (to my knowledge) bento order. When I did return, it was instantly my favorite option on the menu. Not just only was it a teriyaki chicken plater but it came with sushi and Fried Gyozas. It was the complete package. Just an absolute meal one could have. Especially now because they now sell boba. They didn't have that when I was growing up.
Nothing has been able to replace this place nor do I believe any other place will. Yes, I do have another favorite place that I grew up eating at but that place has history in my family and it's reserved for a few times in the year or a family gathering. However Kobe, is the food I long for but I can't reach it since I've moved. Making it evermore desirable and it is just better overall.
I really hope y'all take care of it for me and I know, in return, it'll take care of you with a steaming, hot plater,...
Read moreI will never order food from this place. Not only did they screwed up on my order by not fulfilling it correctly. They also sent over the wrong dish. When I called them, you can here some guys in the background laughing like this was a joke. The girl that answered the phone kept asking them what she should tell me and they just kept carrying on as if this wasn’t important. I finally asked to speak to a manager and she told me to come in if I needed to speak to someone. How unprofessional and inappropriate...
