Terrible beverage, abysmal service. I will never return.
I walked in, there was no line and the barista was finishing a drink. His subsequent procrastinations and attitude previewed the abominable drink I was served. After finding multiple ways to delay starting my drink, he then managed to waste enough time after starting the espresso that the pull was overflowing (now diluted and burnt); did he remake it after coming back? Nope, just dumped a little out and dropped it in my cup. He then served it with an exaggerated gesture. I ordered a lite iced large mocha. He served it with diluted and burnt tasting espresso while not stirring the drink once (syrup sat at the bottom) in a cup full of ice (see pic). I wasn’t going to waste my time asking for a new drink. Seems I possibly got the rude barista mentioned in other comments. Regardless, go to the other coffee shops in Vienna instead of risking this disappointing...
Read moreThis is perhaps the only cafe in the Vienna area that not only exudes the confidently modern, chic urban coffeehouse aesthetic, but matches it with flavorful, thoughtful menu items as well. The interior is thoughtfully arranged: contemporary wooden chairs and tables that flank the wide-open coffee bar, all under an open dining space. My macchiato had the fruity, earthy, and tart taste I expected of a decent espresso, and it even came in cute glassware, to boot. Service was helpful and friendly, and prices reasonable. If you’re looking for a quality cafe experience not weighed down by the crowdedness, inconsistent quality, and downright lack of cleanliness in other nearby cafes (looking at you, Panera Bread and Starbucks on Maple Avenue), try out this cafe—and do sit down and slowly enjoy your espresso for at least 15 minutes. This is one of the best cafes I’ve visited in the NoVA area, and I plan on...
Read moreSo, I swung by 29th Parallel recently, and let's just say it wasn't exactly a high-five kinda experience. The grub? Meh, not great. Like, I've had better elsewhere, you know?
But hold on, the real kicker was the customer service. Seriously, it was like a masterclass in how not to treat your customers. The staff managed to pull off this whole condescending vibe that made me wonder if I'd stumbled into a lecture hall instead of a coffee joint.
Listen up, a coffee shop isn't just about the drinks and eats. It's about the whole package, including the vibes they serve. And trust me, the vibes I got were a major letdown.
Hopefully, the higher-ups at 29th Parallel catch wind of this and decide to give both their menu and their staff's attitude a bit of a makeover. 'Cause in a world full of coffee shops, who's got time for subpar food and...
