I really wanted to like this Jersey Mike’s because the younger girl on the phone was incredibly polite and helpful when I placed a mobile order. I had a few specific requests — extra toasted bun on the grill and extra ranch — and she was kind and reassuring, saying, “Oh for sure, we can work that out!”
When I arrived, my order wasn’t ready, which was fine. But what wasn’t fine was the atmosphere inside the store — especially the behavior of the woman who I believe is the manager, named Sarah. As soon as I walked in, she was speaking down to her employees, especially the young man working the grill and the girl who had helped me on the phone. They were calmly discussing that the grill wasn’t heating properly (already a red flag), and Sarah immediately started belittling them in front of customers.
I watched her treat that young man like he was completely incompetent. He had my bun prepped with the extra ranch, just like I requested, and she told him to throw it away — even though it looked totally fine. He remade it and was trying to toast the bun per my order, and she berated him again, asking, “What are you doing? Don’t do that,” and took the bun off the grill. I had to politely step in and say that’s exactly what I had requested. She rolled her eyes at me, slapped the bun back on the grill, and walked away with an attitude.
The only decent thing she did was give me a side of ranch. But by the time I got home, my “fresh off the grill” sub was barely warm. I had to microwave it just to make it edible. Clearly, the grill wasn’t working properly, which they were well aware of but didn’t mention to me. If your equipment isn’t working, you either need to let customers know up front and expect a delay, or pause service until it’s fixed. Instead, they served me something borderline cold and hoped no one would notice.
The food was disappointing, but the service was what really ruined it. Watching Sarah disrespect her team like that was uncomfortable and upsetting. I could see how disheartened the staff looked, but they clearly couldn’t say anything without fear of consequences. Not only is that bad leadership, it creates a toxic work environment. I genuinely feel bad for the team having to work under...
Read moreThis place does not accept large bills due to the employees are in capable of checking for counterfeit money. This sign is not posted on door like the district manager Ted I spoke to informed me it should be. The employyee at the register nformed me I go break my $100 bill next door to hobby lobby if I wanted my already ordered subs. I'm was a regular customer as we just ordered subs yesterday for my whole office that ee do at least once a month. After seeing first hand the quality of employees the incompetent manager to handle a customer situation I won't be back as I don't appreciate business that are trying to get rid of currency. I will say the district Manger Ted was outstanding at customer service and knows his job well. It's a shame he can't get some decent management to help train quality employees to look for counterfeit money or keep a better kept store. The floors were filthy as was the glass in front the ordering area. I have rated restaurants in almost all 50 states even thru covid never had currency issues or given a bad review. With all the sub shops in the area you would think a franchise would strive to do better so they don't end up out of business like so many that has come and gone under...
Read moreMy first visit. Not impressed.Teenage workers more interested in chatting hugging and getting their break drinks than providing quality customer service.Girl with blonde pony tail was short and rude with her responses to my questions. More employees (about 8) than customers. People came and went and I was told my order was " messed up" No further explanation. Also one sub was not hot as ordered. The manager was interviewing people right in the middle of the dining room, right by the door where everyone could hear.I felt very bad for these folks having no privacy! Very...
