I've tried to ignore the downward spiral this place has been going through the last couple years. Because times have been hard and I've tried to be understanding. But, as of today, I just can't do it anymore.
Since the new Taco Bell was built on 7th Street, this one doesn't even try to keep up appearances and it's disgusting. I'm finally ready to give this place a complete review.
THE DRINK MACHINE AREA: [F-] Let's start with the drink machine, because it's the photos I uploaded. I can't remember the last time I saw this machine clean. Maybe 3-4 years ago? I'm not expecting it to be spotless, I'm reasonable, I used to work fast food, I get the place can be busy. That is no excuse for something to be this disgusting. If it's broken a bit and needing fixed, is been neglected for MONTHS. It smells like MOLD or MILDEW. The carpet on the floor near it is STICKY and STINKS. I didn't even get a picture of the 6 "Wet Floor" signs they have around it. SUMMARY: The most blatantly obvious sign of this place's decline and lack of effort. I requested my drink from the drive thru but have no idea if it was any cleaner.
THE BATHROOMS: [F-] Next, the bathroom, because they're always in about the same state of gross. I wouldn't use their bathrooms if someone paid me to. They look like they're maybe cleaned once a week, if even that often. I didn't want to post any photos due to just how nasty they are. SUMMARY: I'd rather use the local Speedway bathroom that's kept cleaner.
THE DINING AREA: [C] With the remodel, you'd think this part would pass with flying colors. Sadly, that's not the case. Yeah all the tables and chairs are brand new, but that doesn't help much when they're always dirty, smeared in food, and the floor is sticky. (I'm assuming the last part is from everyone tracking the soda rug filth everywhere.) SUMMARY: It looks nice at first, but it's hard finding the one clean table to eat at.
THE DRIVE THRU: [D] The drive thru seems to be the only part of the restaurant they care about keeping up on. The wait times are decent, compared to most, and they don't short you on sauces. HOWEVER, they do have some major issues with order accuracy. Usually with leaving out ingredients that you pay extra for. Since Taco Bell has decided to even start charging for even onions, something that's been free for years, this makes it VERY frustrating and time consuming to go back through for corrections. Most of the time it's easier to just eat the loss and not bother, but all that adds up. If they DO remember to add things, like potatoes, they're usually not fresh which makes the food taste like it's gone STALE. Gross. SUMMARY: Inaccuracies either eat up your time or your money, pick one. Stale ingredients should be thrown out on time, not used for drive thru orders.
THE STAFF: [C] I'm have mixed feelings here. On one hand, they could be just following instructions. They're mostly pleasant to talk to and interact with. They appear like they're doing their best, and I know from experience how that can be. On the other, they could be purposefully neglecting their duties and are being allowed to let the place slide due to poor management. Can't really know one way or the other. Either way, all the other issues plus their consistently young age, give them the stereotypic appearance of clueless teenagers that don't know what they're doing. What IS certain is the management has allowed their restaurant to exist in a disgusting state that they should be ashamed of. I'm dropping the majority of the fault on their shoulders. They need to do better. SUMMARY: Hard to pin what's happening on staff. Who can tell if the normal staff are pulling their weight or not. Management, either store level or district, are clearly letting this place decay into irrelevance.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Honestly, this will be the last time I come here unless I'm absolutely forced to for the sake of time. The other 3 locations nearby are simply better in every way. Why would I want to subject myself to a crappy dining experience when I can just go the new 7th...
Read moreUpdate: 9/13/25 Our very diverse order was perfectly prepared. This is the only TB we go to locally. Well done. Update: 8/31/25 Looks like someone needs more training. Ordered two Beefy 5 Layer Burritos, and I don’t know what this is, but it’s only got 3 Layers. Beef, beans, and a dab of sour cream, no cheese whatever(that’s what makes this overpriced bean burrito good), and no whatever the 5th layer is supposed to be. I might have let this slide if TB was still cheap, but since their prices are sky hi now, I expect better. Too bad I didn’t find out until I got home. Do I have to start unwrapping everything at the window again? Update: 5/5/24 last visit everything was great, Mexican pizza was perfect no complaints. I added one star, and I’ll check back in after the next visit. Update: 7/22/24 Yet another great experience. It’s like the old days again, my original complaint must have been due to something that has obviously been fixed. I’ll add a star, for now, then in time, we will see. (Old review)Not sure why, but the Mexican pizza crusts taste like they have some type of cleaner contamination. The first time after the rebuild it was bad, I assumed it was a one off with maybe an overzealous Clorox wipe on the counter before, but the last two times, I still get that cleaning product taste in an otherwise good product. If this isn’t a local phenomenon, then corporate needs to find out why the crust tastes like this. I will try to keep trying these, but it’s getting hard. Almost like PTSD...
Read moreNice staff (namely the male manager)! I had a problem ordering via the app, so they worked w/ me & said that I could just pay in store, if I wanted! I was impressed with the managers' kindness & willingness to help.
I ordered the Dorito Loco taco (free when you sign up & use the app to order) & a Dragonfruit frozen drink. I really like dragonfruit (a real fruit & is a superfood! I get mine @ Walmart), but the female manager told me, they no longer had the dragonfruit swirl, but suggested it was good without it, anyway. So, I tried it. It tasted very much like flavored coconut, which I'm not a fan of. You may like it, though!
I would recommend visiting this Taco Bell. In addition to the typical menu, they also accommodate vegan requests, as well. I usually get the 3-taco (hard shell, of course!) meal w/ ONLY refried beans, lots of lettuce, mild salsa- no cheese & no meat! They're delicious!!! The dining room is closed to the public, due to the Coronavirus....
