I've been going to Maru Korean Cuisine & Sushi for years, and it continues to be one of my favorite local spots in Vienna. It’s a family-run gem that quietly serves some of the best Korean food in the area, along with surprisingly solid sushi.
🍲 Food
The Korean dishes are outstanding—flavorful, consistent, and clearly made with care. Favorites like bulgogi, hot stone bibimbap, and their short rib rice bowls are comforting and always hit the mark. The seasoning is on point, the portions are generous, and it just feels like home-cooked food done right.
Their sushi is also very good, especially considering this isn’t a full-scale sushi bar. The fish is always fresh, the rolls are well-prepared, and they don't overload things with unnecessary sauces. It’s clean, simple, and delicious.
👥 Service
Yes, the service can be a little slow at times, especially when they’re busy, but honestly, that’s never bothered me. The staff is extremely polite, warm, and welcoming—you never feel rushed or ignored. I’d much rather wait a few extra minutes and be treated kindly than feel like I’m just another table. The personal touch here goes a long way.
🪑 Ambiance
If I had to nitpick, the ambiance could use a refresh. It’s clean and functional but not particularly stylish. That said, it’s cozy, quiet, and unpretentious—which actually makes it a relaxing place to enjoy a meal. And the plentiful parking out front is a huge plus in Vienna.
✅ Final Thoughts
Maru isn’t flashy, but it’s the kind of place you keep coming back to—because the food is excellent, the people are kind, and it always feels like a reliable, quality experience. After years of eating here, I can confidently say they’ve earned every bit of support they get.

Read moreNew restaurant that was recommended to me by an old colleague of mine. I went with my family for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so, that we made reservations for a birthday dinner there the very next day!
They serve both Japanese and Korean fare. We've only tried the Japanese menu items (minus the hwedupbap), so can't speak for the Korean food, but the Japanese food was very flavorful, fresh, high quality and came out in a timely manner.
For lunch the first day we had the Katsu Don, Tempura Udon, Rainbow Roll, another roll (don't recall the name) and Hwedupbap. The next evening we had a Sushi & Sashimi Boat ($75), Salmon Teriyaki Box and Hwedupbap. We were all delighted and surprised by how fresh the fish was. They were well sized, did not smell fishy at all and the texture was melt in your mouth buttery. Even in the Hwedupbap, they used generously sized portions of quality fish, not left over tidbits.
Things to know: -They're new, so the servers are very attentive and friendly, but seem a bit nervous (bringing extra utensils, etc...). I'm sure this will get better in time. -It's a cozy space. Don't expect to bring huge parties here. -They have special menus that are on a chalkboard up above the sushi bar where they feature some of their regular menu items at an awesome price. -Plenty of free parking in the spacious lot behind...
Read moreMy husband and I love coming here as it’s close to us and a place where we can get both sushi and Korean food. My husband isn’t the biggest fan of sushi so it’s great that he has so many different options while I can get my sashimi, specialty rolls (I.e., Love Roll) or salmon avocado rolls. He loves their spicy stir fry squid, sundubu, or kimchi jjigae. Their bibimbap is also really good and when we want to splurge we would get the galbi. I’ve also come here by myself for lunch and get their bento boxes that they have Tues to Sunday 11:30 to 2:30pm and it’s such a great deal with the amount of food you get! I like how they also give you a house salad (their dressing is yummy) and miso soup with many of their dishes. Their menu is very extensive so it’s great for groups too as there’s a variety to choose from. The restaurant doesn’t have too many tables though, very cozy and it can get very busy during prime time so I recommend to come early for dinner or come on a weekday instead of a weekend if you can! There’s a good amount of free parking in the back. This is a family runned business so when it is busy, do have patience as they usually have two servers and they also manage a lot of to-go orders as well. They’re always very friendly when we go and we love sitting by the window. Highly recommend...
