My wife considers herself a burger connoisseur and, considering the amount of hamburgers that she's consumed in her life, I'm inclined to trust her opinions when it comes to the quality of the burger places that we try.
So I asked her what she thought of Social Burger, and this was her response: "Oh, I liked it! Okay, let me think...like out of 5? Uh okay, let me talk through it, I liked the atmosphere, it was like a nice burger place. Well, it wasn't exceptionally nice, but it was different than your average 5Guys."
[Editor's Notes: The shop is pretty small, maybe 4 tables and a standing table that sits against the window, which is something to consider if you're thinking about bringing a group here. When we went, the store wasn't very busy and we easily found a place to sit...back to my wife...]
"I really liked the soda, it was the best raw sugar soda I've ever had. And the fries I really liked."
"I had a basic burger and I liked it. Lettuce, onions, pickles, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard and I would for sure go back. I'd rate it a like a 3.8. I'm not sure I would rate it a 4. It was great, it was really good, but it didn't exceed my expectations. It was really good, but generally what you would expect from a burger place."
[Editor's Note: This was a good point when you consider the sheer amount of burger places in the area. Social Burger is a cool spot but there wasn't anything about their burger that made me feel like theirs was different than the others I could get in the area. Admittedly, that's a subjective standard so your mileage may vary.]
"My burger was reasonably priced, which was enough for me. $6 really wasn't bad compared to how much you'd spend at 5Guys or Smash Burger."
[Editor's Note: I agree with this sentiment. My burger, which was dubbed "The Social Burger", was a bit more pricey (around $13), but I do feel like I got good value out of what I paid: it came with two patties, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, a house sauce and fried jalapeños which was more than enough to satisfy my hunger.]
Other notes: There is plenty of parking and the store is easy to access (which isn't always a guarantee in Vienna) Social Burger has plenty of other options besides burgers. Their chili dogs caught my eye just a bit too late. Staff was nice
Overall, my wife and I agree that this is a great place to try and based on the quality of the food, the price and the convenience we'd likely go back for a burger in the future; we just...
Read moreI visited on a Thursday evening to get some quick food after a multi day business trip. Ordering online went well, and my food was ready as promised almost to the minute. Staff proved efficient with retrieving my order and all checked well. I especially appreciate the small business atmosphere and the community connections through their relationship with The Lamb Center.
I ordered a double beef burger with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle, and mustard for a classic taste, a turkey burger with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and chimichurri sauce for a more earthy profile, and two orders of fries — one regular white potato and the other sweet potato. The beef burger had the classic taste I wanted, even if I wonder whether the beef itself could have had more flavor and been more juicy. The turkey burger had some herb flavor with the chimichurri sauce going well with the other accompaniments. Both fry orders stayed warm after a car ride, so I was pleased with the thermal heat. The texture for both seemed on the softer side even when accounting for the length of the car ride for this takeout order. Flavors tasted good, although the sweet potato fries were a little over seasoned for my taste.
Overall the bill totaled roughly $35 including tax, so for Vienna prices the bill seemed reasonable at first glance. I could see a repeat visit if I felt inclined to support a local small business with community ties and a well-meaning attitude towards serving burgers to...
Read moreFrom the outside, it doesn't look super impressive. In fact, if you weren't specifically looking for Social Burger, you probably wouldn't even notice it. However this tiny burger joint, in the middle of the town of Vienna, brings a local and family feel that's synonymous with the other charming restaurants and shops of Maple Avenue.
A family-owned business, Social Burger puts the gourmet in burger. They care about the ingredients that go into the burger. Their menu isn't long, but it's got some toppings that you don't see other burger joints. I ordered a Matthew (aka the cheeseburger) with lettuce, tomato, sliced onions, house-made pickled jalapenos, and red Thai curry mayo. I loved the heat of the red Thai curry mayo. I'd come back to try their Megan (vegetarian black bean and brown rice) and Vienna turkey burgers. Burgers range from $5.85 to $7.85, a little bit on the pricier side.
You can also add some not so free toppings like fried egg, bacon, bacon jam, and sautéed mushrooms. These not so free toppings range from 75 cents to a dollar. They even have a burger bowl for those who don't want the calories from the buns. There's also a few options for salads, hand cut fries, and milkshakes. Service was friendly and fast. There are a couple of seats but no more than...
