We called in an order for pickup at Flying Burro. I was excited to try it as I have heard good things since they opened. When I came to pick up our order, I was told that it wasn’t ready yet, though I saw what looked like our order bagged on a counter. A few minutes later, the cashier gave me the order and I left. They called my wife 10 minutes later and said that I had taken someone else’s order. I drove back to the restaurant and the cashier asked me to give the bag to a waiting Uber Eats driver, after telling her that I had grabbed the wrong order. I didn’t grab the wrong order - he literally handed me the order from behind the counter, but apparently didn’t want to own his mistake.
The cashier then handed me my order, which was the bag that had now been sitting on the counter for 30 minutes. I told him it was cold and that I’d like them to remake it. He initially said that it had only been sitting out for 5 minutes, but relented when the manager came out. The manager agreed to remake the food, which I appreciated. I waited another 7-8 minutes, received the order, and drove the 8 minutes to my house. My wife immediately pointed out that the food was cold. It looks like they poured hot queso over her bowl (which she specifically did not order) in an attempt to heat it up. For my tacos, I’m not sure they did anything to heat them up - everything was room temperature or colder and soggy.
Mistakes happen, and I wasn’t very upset that the initial mistake was made. The manager agreeing to remake the meals and then clearly not doing so is what’s frustrating. I also didn’t think it was good practice to have the Uber Eats driver take food from me (which had been out of their restaurant for 15-20 minutes) and deliver it to a family that surely won’t know that some other random customer had their dinner with him for that period of time. This was a very disappointing experience with what I hoped would be a much needed, great, local restaurant. I obviously can’t recommend this restaurant, but I hope they’ll do better...
Read moreThe decor is pretty with a huge painting on the wall and beautiful tables. The area was clean. As cafes go, it was nice atmosphere. The food wasn't the normal mexican food that an American is served in most Mexican resturants. I know what I want when I go into a Mex resturant. But this one is different. You pay one price for tje meet, then what add-ons you want...at another per item price. The food was served in a aluminum take out bowl even if you ate it at one of the pretty tables. You order from the front counter, set down after getting your drink from the self service counter in the back. The lady at the counter brought 2 aluminum bowls to the table and now it was time to eat. One person ordered a burreto and the menu said with rice and beans ...it was one fat burito with "everything" inside the wrap. This was served to a perdon who gets upset if their food touches on their playe. : ) Well, 1/2 way thru the messy fat wrap, he stopped eating and said this mess turns my stomach. And left the resturant. My meal was server in the same style bowl, but my also had rice and beans but mine were not combined in a huge wrap. So, take it as you may, but the presentation of the food didn't even add or subtract from the taste...because it was all in an bowl with a fairly high price. It is all about the presentation. But you try it and let us know if or when you...
Read moreI ordered to go. I will not order the queso fundido again as this seemed mostly velveta with chorizo on top. I will not order the Mexican express anymore as I got only 2oz of salsa in a 4oz cup. The queso was not much either but they were generous with the guacamole. This leads me to.. I will order guacamole and chips next time only.
As per the entrees, the birria quesadilla was good and the nacho burrito was good as well. I think the birria comes with pieces of onions for those who do not like onions. I do not know if the macho burrito I s supposed to come with lettuce inside or not🤔. The list of ingrédients does not list it but our burrito had lettuce. Which we had to carefully pick out and throw some of it away. Therefore, we were not able to enjoy the burrito as much as we wished to.
I had a side of pico and it was good. I will order this again. I am going to give flying burro another opportunity in the future but next time I will try the birria taco and make sure the burrito does not have lettuce. I hope this...
