Stopped in after a doctor visit nearby. Needed breakfast after fasting for blood work. I saw the name of the place and saw "Good Eats Cafe". I thought "Boy that sounds very 1940's" and the signs weren't fancy at all. One sign was the name and the other simply Open 7-2. Now I'm picturing a bald guy with a dirty apron and a cigarette hanging from his mouth. But I was really hungry and went in. Wow! A neat good sized and clean french cafe atmosphere. Quite a few patrons, a bar and many smiling employees. Kelly greeted us and seated us right away. (11:15AM). My wife commented several times how clean everything was. I thought that's all fine just bring the food. Kelly came right back with menus and coffee. The coffee had the best flavor of most of the places I've been too. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu ($19), Steak with eggs, wedge potatoes and toast. The steak came medium as ordered with wine butter on the side. My wife ordered french toast (made with 2 thick slices of challah bread battered in a orange juice reduction, sryup, powdered sugar and 2 extremely tasty thick slices of bacon. The owner/cook did come out to see how things were going. Not bald but wearing a kerchief to keep his longer hair back , not dirty and definitely no cigarette. We decided to take home some soups. Chili and Chicken Meatball. (The chili was so thick, I had to add a little water). Very tasty. I left a good tip and went home happy. As an aside, good restaurants prices have been going up slowly. Good Eats is not a low end place. The ingredients they use are quality. Good Eats is not a high end place. I will be back and my wife will...
Read moreJust ate brunch. Took 1 1/2 hours. When food finally came it had to have been under the heat lamp for at least 45 minutes. Poached egg was more like hard boiled on the Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was hard. Other order of egg over easy was also hard. All other food was cold. Waiter disappeared during that time so we ran out of water. Asked for butter. Almost done with eating cold food when I asked again for butter. He brought FROZEN Butter patty. Total cost of food for 4 was $84. Super disappointed. I understand short staff but we never saw our waiter at all during wait time. Was he also cooking????
In response to the owner. I was there with my son who was a kitchen cook for 10 years. Plates were hot. Food was cold. My kids would not allow me to complain as we had already been there for over an hour. Your staff never asked if we wanted more coffee or water. They avoided us and during our hour wait we NEVER saw our server on the floor. I have seen you berating those who leave a bad review. How about you use this as a learning experience and train your staff. I know all about the worker shortage. Eat out in Lake Country every weekend. And we expect a wait. NO ONE communicated with us or anyone else who was there and tables were only half filled. How about you...
Read moreI'm editing this. It's Tuesday night, we had breakfast here Sunday morning. If you read on you'll see I have a kid with a sensitive bottom. We needed to change him and there was nowhere for us to do this. He's raw and miserable 2.5 days later. Please get a changing table!!! We simply cannot go to places without one!!!
This was a new place for us. We LOVED the food and the staff was phenomenal!! Add in that it's 6 miles from our house and it's great. Right? The problem. All parents will understand. We have a one year old and he's prone to diaper rash when we don't change his 💩 diaper quickly. He needed a change just as our food arrived. I grabbed him and my supplies and ran to the women's room. There was no changing table anywhere and zero counter space to lay my changing pad down. The dining area is an open concept and there was no where to do this. We won't be back until there is a changing table. To be honest there were quite a few kids in highchairs at the restaurant I can't believe the owners have made this huge oversight!!
The owner seems the responsive on these reviews. I had hoped to see this rectified quickly. Too bad they don't seem to care...we love some good eats and have another little one arriving this Spring. Guess we have to take this place off...
