El Corral Mexican Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Vincennes

We’ve been here several times, and the last two times have been absolutely horrible. Service and food both. The time before last, I ordered flautas, and they came out with toothpicks cooked inside of them, and I choked on one (there was no part of the toothpick sticking out at all). I let our server know, and he just said, “Okay sorry.” I didn’t eat any more of my food that night. The service was dismal at best, with refills never coming, bar drinks SLOWLY delivered AFTER our food had arrived. Food came out a couple plates at a time, and by the time all of it was out and we could all eat, half the food was cold. We decided to go again (hoping that it had improved), and it wasn’t any better…in fact, it was worse (except I didn’t choke on a toothpick this time!) Our server took part of our drink order, then came back and got the rest of our drink order. Ordered a mojito that never showed up, ordered sides that never showed up, no extra chips for a table of 6 with 4 kids, no drink refills even when asked multiple times, and the chicken in my fajitas was not fully cooked (or seasoned either). Our server was too busy playing on his phone, counting his tips, and chitchatting with the female servers to actually take care of us. If I could give 0...

Came in with my family, seven adults and four children. We were quickly seated. Wait staff was friendly and took our orders promptly. However, I am pretty sure our waiter wasn't listening when we ordered. We wanted one child's plate, but received two. And I did not get what I asked for. But, since we were a larger party,I decided to make sure with what I had. Big mistake! Everything was over cooked. The chicken and beef was so dry, I couldn't eat it. At $14 a plate, I expected better. Another person in our party's food was also over cooked, almost burnt. I can deal with smaller portions. That happens. This used to be my favorite restaurant. But, I have been disappointed once again. Not sure why they changed. It is definitely not a change for the better. Don't think I will be making any more trips here, especially since I can get decent Mexican food closer...

The food and drinks are really good. We go once a week. The only bad thing about the place is that they don't come around and check on you much for drink refills, etc. Most Mexican restaurants, the other waiters, and extra help are always filling drinks at any table that needs. it. Don't get me wrong, the waiters and waitresses are good they just stay very busy and need a little extra help. I will say that if the younger manager is there, he does go around and help to do this at all the tables. Obviously, it doesn't stop us from going every week, so it's a pretty great place over all.

Update: They've done a much better job of coming around and keeping up with drinks, etc. We really do enjoy this place and the staff are great and so...
