We were in the area looking for lunch (Friday Aug 8 '25) and saw Jessy's I remembered a great place when I lived in East Beach so I was hoping it was the same owner.
The decor was awesome unfortunately there were multiple dirty tables. It was late lunch (around 130 but still busy) There was a large group of about 4 including a pregnant woman. They seemed really annoyed spoke to a woman who appeared to be the bartender and server and then left. I wondered how long they were waiting and thought they missed out bc the food at East Beach is the best so I bet it's great here
I was with a 4 year old and we started looking the menu to save time. The bartender/server was avoiding eye contact and I understood why she was completely swamped. After about seven minutes a woman from the kitchen came out and put a few items in the fridge I was thinking she would acknowledge us or at least clear some tables. She didn't - ok maybe she's busy in the back I don't know her job ..
The server/bartender was moving non stop running food getting checks etc. I could hear people complaining about how long it was taking to get the check. Finally after about 12 minutes of standing there another server came from the back. I'm thinking ok great here we go we'll get seated soon. Nope she disappeared. I have no idea what happened to her. I don't like to seat myself unless I'm not bc I've worked in the industry and I know that can throw everything off. Also about 1/3 of the tables were empty but not cleared.
More people left but nothing was cleared and we were not acknowledged. It was about 20 minutes. I would have never stayed so long but I really do love their food from the other location. Also the child I nanny loved the atmosphere and wanted to eat there
I thought about how long it would take to actually get our lunch if we could get a seat, we were hungry and I just couldn't wait anymore so we left
I'm not doing one star because of their other location the food is excellent there - I hope it's the same company it looked good in VB too
I blame the management to be clear - meaning whoever is above that bartender/server because she was slaying. I was a server and never had to work alone like that with so many tables - never mind take out and bar!!! I wanted to grab a bin and start bussing to help out. It also felt like she was in survival mode. I feel like most people even experienced would have cried and walked out.
Management - please give this woman a rise and hire...
Read moreIt's a small hole in the wall restaurant. The name throws you off cause it is close to the same as another place over on ocean view.
It seating is limited. The kitchen has any open view for you to see them cooking. You seat yourself then they will come and get your order.
They didn't offer or even ask if you wanted chips and salsa. They don't serve beer. The Horchata was good that I ordered but they served it in a flimsy plastic throw away cup. The carne asada dish was ok. Rice was really good, beans could be better, and the meat was just that no real flavoring. And fresh tortillas. I guess you could call it authentic Mexican but not really cause the flavoring was Americanized. Mexican food you can smell being cooked and prepared. That was not the case here. It did however come out fast. The salsa roja was great had just the right bite to it.
The server was very nice. He acts as the server and the cashier. So if busy with the tables might be a minute to pay.
Their pos is not set right so when you get you bill of sale it shows it as whole number with no cents. But processes fast which is a good thing.
I gave it a 3 star. But you won't see me coming back here. And I won't be telling anyone to come here to eat. I will keep going to the place on ocean view by little creek base. Now that's authentic...
Read moreI have been here 4 times now and the quality and service has been consistently great everytime...the older gentleman behind the counter is such a sweet soul and always has a nice smile on his face...there was also a younger gentleman on my first visit that took the time and gave me a lengthly review of the menu and thoroughly described everything to me and gave me several recommendations and was patient and didnt rush me or seem agititated that he had to explain a lot of stuff to me..the people here r pleasant and courteous and the food is amazing and fresh and definately gives u that authenticity. ive so far had the lamb soup and tacos, the regular tacos, the trio, and the taquitos and everything was super good. My food has never taken lomg to be prepared and u see them cook everything in front of u to order..Im definately going to continue to come here and recommend this place to anyone looking for great authentic (not americanized) Mexican food. This is one of my new favorite...
