I visited this restaurant on 5/23 to catch up with my good girlfriends after our busy days at work. The weather was nice and we were looking even better.l! We chose the deck based on the ambiance and a raving referral from an IG acct. However, what we ended up experiencing was poor communication, borderline lies, and sub par customer service. It took about 30 mins to be seated which is understandable as everyone was out trying to eat good and soak up the sun, but once we first indeed our drinks, it took about an hour for those to come (uncomplicated drinks straight from their menu). Once we finally got our drinks we ordered our entrees. About 1.5 hrs from THAT we ask about the progress on our food, and the response is "they are working on it but unfortunately we've run out of hush puppies. We can offer fries as a substitute ". At this point we're about 2.5 hrs into our visit and are hungry. Then ANOTHER hour goes by and we still did NOT have our food. Now we are hangry, but being patient to get understanding. When we asked again, we were advised that "they are working on it, but they didn't expect the crowd that they had that day". After another 30 mins we asked to speak with the manager, d/t lack of f/u. We told him our grievances and needed to know how much longer our food would take to come out. 10 mins go by and the manager did NOT return so we asked our waiter and that is when we were told that there was STILL 1 more ticket before our food would even be processed!?! Meanwhile we've literally been at this restaurant for daytime, sunset and now DARKNESS. There were no accommodations, drinks, or any compensation offered. So my good friends and I, had to leave there around 10 pm and still find something else to eat as many of us left work and came there. We were not offered any rememdies to justify this horrible experience (maybe b/c we didnt advertise any social media influence?). While I understand that this is a relatively new restaurant, this level of unprepared behavior, poor management and flimsy customer service before summer has even started is VERY concerning. I am a pescatarian who loves to eat out and share my recommendations with my family and friends, but unfortunately I will not be able to do so with this...

Read moreWe never got our food, but the service (or the lack of) certainly wasn’t helpful. I was really looking forward to another beautiful, delicious, beachside restaurant but The Deck missed the mark. It seems they do not have the ability to support a fast-paced, fully packed deck (VB hasn’t even seen the peak in tourist season, yet) and until they figure that out, the quality of service will consistently take a hit.
We were seated (there were four of us) and we placed orders for drinks which were pretty good. We then placed our order for our meals. No one at our table ordered special menu items or made complex requests; it was a simple order straight from the menu. After waiting for two hours, we requested a manager to the table to check on whether our food was going to be done soon. He stated he would check and never return. Our waiter came to let us know that our food was on the ticket following the one they were cooking at that moment, which gave the impression that they hadn’t even started our preparing our meal. At that point, we opted to leave since it was now dark out, chillier, and there was no estimated time that our food would be finished. The waiter, Dominick, was absolutely lovely and he unfortunately was left to recover poor service that truly was not his fault. His adjacent table was complaining of the same issue so while it was a busy night for Dominick, I’m sure his gratuity suffered with the delays. That’s unfortunate for many reasons.
I wish I could have left a more positive review detailing the food but it appears the restaurant lacks the logistics to get the job done. Beautiful facility but with a busy summer approaching, I’m apprehensive to recommend as I myself am unlikely to visit again in the near future. Hopefully in time, they’ll find a formula that covers every aspect of...
