After a fun night of playing shuffle board and enjoying a walk on the boardwalk we decided it was time for some ice cream. Well as soon as we (my 89year young granddad) walked in we were greeted with yelling. The employee started saying No dogs allowed. It was 9:45pm Saturday night and nobody was in the ice cream shop, they were about to close. Also the hotel is very dog friendly and never had a problem with our little 8lb dog going anywhere with us. Especially since it was freezing outside. I told the employee that I just wanted to pay for my Granddaddy’s ice cream and we would wait outside. She kept glaring and wouldn’t let my grandad taste any of the flavors. She was so rude and this ice cream place is apart of the Cavalier Hotel that boasted about being pet friendly. There were no signs out saying no dogs, and my dog was so polite, stayed in her leash and didn’t even try to jump on the furniture. My granddad was very put off by the employee not letting him taste anything and wanted to leave. Honestly I should have let him but really wanted to buy him an ice cream to satisfy his sweet tooth. We finally agreed upon a pomegranate sorbet and was so disappointed with it that it ended up in the trash. The ice cream was all melted and thick & syrupy that it wasn’t even edible. They employee rang up the ice cream and said she was closing and we needed to leave. At 89 years young my grandad moves a little slow and wanted to get a few napkins for his tasty treat and that rude employee got a spray bottle and started to spray down the area where the napkins were. I have never encountered such a rude antagonistic employee. Plus the parlor was disgusting and so sticky that I don’t think that employee cleaned all day. She probably was watching videos on her phone and was mad that we even came in giving her 1 sale for the day. By the time we got outside and tasted the ice cream and realized it wasn’t edible the employee and locked up shop and hid in the back. I was so disappointed and sick to my stomach that this was the experience that my grandad would remember. A beautiful view, with disgusting ice cream that was literally money in the trash, a rude employee that couldn’t even smile or try to be polite but instead chased a paying customer out the door with cleaning chemicals. The only positive is that they use Vinyl & Nitrile gloves vs Latex and one of the only reasons we were tempted to give this We Scream Ice Cream and Coffee...
Read moreFull disclosure: This review is not about the ice cream because we didn’t even get the opportunity to try it.
We came in yesterday around lunch time, after having lunch at Orion’s. We purposely skipped dessert at the restaurant because we had seen this shop while coming in. When we walked in, we were greeted by a sweet girl with glasses. We asked if we could try any of the flavors before committing and she politely responded, explaining why we couldn’t. This was unfortunate but not a deal breaker. My husband jokingly asked, “well, what happens if we don’t like our flavor?” Before our server could answer, a worker who was helping another customer stopped what she was doing to rudely interrupt and condescendingly tell us that we should read the descriptions and that they taste as they are described. As everyone who is anyone who eats ice cream knows, all ice cream flavors are interpreted differently by chefs and one flavor by one shop will never taste the same as another so we were not only shocked by her rudeness but also just by the general explanation.
At that point, we all looked at one another and decided we no longer wanted ice cream from WeScream. We walked towards the door and called valet. While doing so, that same rude person called out to us to tell us we should go to Ben & Jerry’s or Dairy Queen down the street.
Half of us are locals and the other half of us grew up here (although no longer live here and visit often). We will definitely never return and be sure to not recommend this spot to our friends and family. We will continue to go to Lolly’s or Gerald’s for their yummy flavors and amazing customer service (AND to taste the flavors...
Read moreWe went in this past sunday, we were checking out of hotel and at 10:10 a.m. & they wouldn't sell us a scoop of icecream for my nephew who has eating disorder and only eats vanilla ice cream. KIARA rudely dismissed me and said "we don't serve til 11". I said "please its just a scoop for the baby". She again said NO. Ice cream was all on display, hours on door say open at 7am. The place was empty and entire rude staff was all standing there doing nothing, but she said NO to selling us a scoop for a 1& 1/2 year old with a disability. Lovely service. We had been there before and overlooked the terrible rudeness but this was the "rotten cherry on the sundae."
No matter how good the ice cream is the ""service"" KILLS it. And this Kiara person should not be in any guest or client service EVER. If you can even call it service. We overlooked it the 1st few visits partly because we had a large group with us with kids. I ranted and raved about this ice cream, by the way. We've stayed at this Marriot very often so this time with large out of town family get together for a bday celebration i wanted to treat everyone. The night we checked in we went in and purchased ice cream for everyone in our family $$$$$$$$ staff is SO rude but we tried to have a good time anyway. Someone in front of us asked for sample and they were SO UNKIND and said NO. We were...
