I gave three stars because of Monica, Dylan, and the bartender at Becca, who actually made our visit better after a total FUBAR on the part of the hotel. I made Afternoon Tea reservations weeks ago ahead of a visit from my sister and niece. They had never attended an Afternoon Tea before, had come up from Georgia where they are currently stationed, before they transition to Korea for the next few years (which is why this was such a special occasion that was quickly and deeply disappointing). When my husbamd and I went previously, it was a phenomenal experience.
We arrived 15 minutes prior to seating and they said they didn't have us with a reservation...so I presented my confirmation. The person I made my reservation through, after confirming with them multiple times, made our reservation for Becca instead of Afternoon Tea. I knew I should have called and confirmed for a fourth time, but I felt secure, especially with a confirmation. I was wrong. Monica at least tried to help us and sat us with a tea setting, but the director or manager essentially told us, because a head count is done the night before, there was no room or food for us and no other accommodations could be made..."but you do have reservations over at Becca so, you can just take those." But, we weren't there for Becca...we drove an hour to attend tea...but she came, said her peace, and we didn't see her again. Stay for Becca or leave was essentially what she offered us. We were hungry, disappointed, and unhappy, but we stayed. They did, however, give us tea with our lunch at Becca...but nothing else. Lunch was fine, but again, it was the bartender and Dylan who made the day much better. I don't know if or when we will be back...Im sure it isnt a great loss to them, but it was for us, a big loss.
I host teas at home in a room I built specifically for it, so I absolutely made sure they enjoyed a traditional Afternoon Tea...I just wish the experience for us at at the Raleigh Room at the Cavalier had been what we expected amd were...
Read moreIf your looking for an exceptional way to celebrate Thanksgiving, the Cavalier Hotel is the place to be. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this would be a memorable experience. The hotel was stunningly decorated, creating the perfect holiday backdrop for family photos we’ll treasure for years to come.
Ambiance: The holiday atmosphere was magical, with live classical music enhancing the elegant setting. Guests dressed beautifully, which only added to the festive charm.
Service: The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and seamless throughout the evening. Every detail seemed carefully orchestrated to make the event special.
Food: The culinary offerings were a highlight. The seafood bar, featuring shrimp and oysters, was a standout. Salads, appetizers, and carving stations were equally impressive, showcasing a variety of flavors and high-quality ingredients. The drinks were thoughtfully crafted and absolutely delicious.
The only slight disappointment was the dessert selection. While the options were tasty, they lacked traditional Thanksgiving staples like pumpkin pie, which would have completed the experience perfectly.
Overall, the Cavalier Hotel delivered an unforgettable Thanksgiving celebration. The beautiful setting, exceptional service, and outstanding cuisine (desserts aside) made it a truly special event. I’m already looking forward to returning next year and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a festive and elegant...
Read moreThe Cavalier is gorgeous. Just beautiful. Would absolutely suggest just staying for the night, enjoying the pool, enjoying a Champagne Thursday event.
We came for afternoon tea. I definitely had high hopes, seeing as it was hosted by the Cavalier. The tea itself was fine, with a selection offered that included a caffeine free tea.
I had indicated that I was vegan at sign up online, as the process allowed me to select vegan as an option. This tea experience is not for you, if you're vegan, though. The vegan food was strawberries dipped in vegan chocolate and... a bowl of fruit. Literally, a sad bowl of standard grocery-store offered mixed fruit. Oh and two very flat, small, mostly tasteless "scones" that were decent when flavored by the tea but not on their own. My friend, who did not ask for vegan, received scones, cookies, petite fours, three different sandwiches, chocolate dipped strawberries, and more. These were the same price, by the way. We paid the same price for a layout of tea foods vs a sad bowl of fruit and mostly tasteless scones. I would have been far less upset if I had gone in not expecting vegan food at all. The bartender also ended up being the only available waiter. He was run ragged with all the tea guests and the bar guests. His tea service was not great, but we understand why entirely. He had no help with an almost filled room and a bar to also keep up with. Bravo to him for doing...
