*Low rating due to POOR COMMUNICATION and POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!-- In preparation of Super Bowl Sunday, I made attempts to call ahead to place my wing order for the upcoming game day on Sunday. I was unable to reach anyone through the phone after a few attempts, so I went directly to the Wing King VA Bch Blvd location to place my order on Wednesday, Feb 5th around 3:30pm. When I went inside there was a female associate on the phone and a guy behind the counter. The guy asked me what he could help me with, so I told the guy behind the counter that I was looking to place my wing order in advance for Super Bowl Sunday and that I was also looking to add a side order of the broccoli and cheese bites with the wing order for the broccoli to pick up at the same time. The associate told me that all I had to do was place the order for the wings (30 count) and that I could add the broccoli and cheese bites as a side at the time of pickup. I asked him if he was sure as I know game day is busy and I was trying to avoid any hiccups. He told me that all I needed was to place the order for the wings as the (cooking) staff would know that sides are expected to be made on the same day and that I could just pay for everything (wings and broccoli & cheese bites) at the same time. I told him that was fine and he took my name and phone number for the order. Fast forward to picking my order up on Sunday, Feb 9th and there's a table up front with the order receipts. I give my name and the lady hands me my order receipt and I say I would like to add the broccoli and cheddar bites with my wing order, and it is at this time that she informs me that they are NOT accepting any side orders which is completely different from what the other associate told me at time of placing the order! She goes to the back and comes back out and confirms they are not making the broccoli and cheese bites, but that I could talk to an associate at the counter...ok. I went ahead and paid for my $35 wing order and then I spoke to another associate behind the counter who confirmed that they were not making any sides other than fries and wedges for Super Bowl Sunday. I declined those as that is not what I wanted and already have those items available. For the lack of miscommunication on the associate's part who took my order on Wednesday, I was not offered a discount on my current order to nor was I offered a future discount on broccoli and cheese bites or something along those lines to rectify the inconvenience. The only reason I even placed my order with Wing King was for those broccoli and cheese bites. There are plenty of other places that make wings, but not those specific bites!
This is a huge inconvenience! If the associate that took my order was better informed, I would have went ahead and bought the broccoli and cheese bites prior to Super Bowl Sunday. Going forward, please ensure all associates are informed of restrictions and all employees are on the same page so that they can better communicate with customers! It is not up to the customer to know the restrictions! The employees should be informed so they can accurately inform the customers! Do...
Read moreWing King used to be awesome, way back when they were in the strip mall next to TJMaxx/Food Lion, at London Bridge. Now, they've just changed entirely, maybe due to growth. They used to care about the customer and worked so hard to put out great food and customer service. Now it just seems to be about the money, as their food quality has dropped significantly, and that amazing customer service has disappeared almost entirely. I know a company has to change with the times and improve, upgrade, expand... but there are some things that shouldn't change. Customer happiness used to be a fundamental goal for this restaurant, but every single time I've been there since they moved (many years ago), I've been treated like a number or like an annoyance. Most of the time, the food is overcooked, especially wings and strips. When I ask them not to cook it quite so dry and hard, I'm told no, they have to do that. Sorry, but I'm quite sure that chicken doesn't have to be cooked so mercilessly that it could withstand the 7th layer of hell. Another request that has been repeatedly denied was wings - all flats. My Pop couldn't eat the drums because they're cooked so hard, and I just prefer flats. I tried to explain and request either less cooking time, or all flats, but was refused. So I'd have to order more and just waste half the order or find someone to eat the drums. Why are these requests such a problem? The other wing places don't have a problem doing both. I am very soft spoken, and I understand that I'll need to repeat myself often, especially since they now have music or other entertainment on, and that's naturally going to be loud (not a complaint, the noise doesn't bother me), but if I'm trying to speak to someone about an order and the person keeps interrupting with a sigh or to rudely snap that I have to speak up, it gets really frustrating. If an order is wrong and I ask about it - and I am always extremely polite when my order is wrong, because i assume it's my fault for not speaking loud enough- and get an eye roll and an annoyed offer to take it back and fix it, you can bet your * that my food is not leaving my sight. Not in the hands of someone I just pissed off. I just deal with the mistake. I won't return to Wing King, and it's unfortunate, because I was actually excited to see them grow and expand, not to mention the fact that I like some of the bands they advertise regularly. I'm glad to see that they're doing well, I have awesome childhood memories of hanging out in their little shop while waiting for wings that my dad ordered so hot that the fumes made me cry, and the guys working there would tease me for it. So I'm happy for their success. It's just sad that the cost of that success was that they became "just another...
Read moreThe only reason we gave Wing King a try was because Dirty Buffalo is closed on Tuesdays. We’ve been here a few times and have had horrible service every time, but the wings are good so we keep coming back. After tonight, we will never go back. First, we ordered 20 wings, but only got 10. It wasn’t even worth mentioning it to our bartender because she was so rude. We just wanted to eat and get out. Right when we were finishing our meal, a woman, who’s clearly drunk, with a full drink in her hand, started arguing with the bartender and proceeded to go behind the bar to get in the bartenders face. After about a five minute public screaming match, (something that should have been handled in back-of-house), the bartender stormed out. The woman and her friend stayed behind the bar and started serving alcohol. Who knows if they’re even licensed to do this. They obviously had no experience behind the counter, asking costumers where the alcohol they were ordering was located. When we were ready to leave, we stood at the front counter to get our check from a different employee, but she told us that we have to pay at the bar we ordered from and she also told us that the two women behind the bar are the owners.. You can tell that all of the other employees were clearly annoyed at the two women, a few even coming to argue with the ladies themselves. We really did not want to have to approach these drunk women, who clearly didn’t know what they were doing, for our check, but we had no choice. We waited a few minutes to even ask for our check because the women were busy flirting with two guys that were sitting at the bar who she pouring free shots for. When we asked for the check, one of the women behind the bar says something along the lines of “our bartender went home sick”. Is she that dumb that she thinks we didn’t hear and see the screaming match happening less than 15ft away from us?? We were shocked and told her we clearly saw what had happened and we know the bartender isn’t sick. She then points to her head saying, “Well she’s got some kind of sickness.” insinuating that the bartender has mental problems. At this point, we mentioned that we’re not coming back, so she offered us a free shot. Like that’s going to make everything better.. We declined of course and kept saying we just want to pay and leave. When the bribe of free alcohol didn’t work and we were adamant that we would not be returning, she ended up giving us 50% off. But made sure to mention this fact several times, to ensure that we return. One of the customers suggested we try Footer’s next time instead of Wing King, and we...
