Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Virginia

This is my first ever 'negative' review. It makes me sad. We stopped at the Chester, Virginia Applebees for a 'quick' lunch before an appointment. The restaurant itself is not clean...everything (tables, door handles, door glass, seats) is sticky? The hostess took almost ten minutes to come from the kitchen to seat us, barely grunted a hello (in fact my husband didn't even hear her) and that was the only time she spoke. No one else looked in our direction or acknowledged us...apparently 'not their station'? The waitress was sweet and we were thinking things would change at that point. Nope. She was extremely slow and stopped to have her lunch at a nearby table, while we were still waiting for our lunch, almost 45 minutes later. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks (just water) and appetizer; then, another 35 minutes to get our food. Both entrees were burnt. Not just overdone, burnt. My husband's plate on top of being burnt, was COLD! We asked FOUR times for our bill and each time she would walk by us several times and promise to be right back. The THIRD time I asked for the bill, she stopped and pointed at their table game and said I could look at it on there, but didn't need to pay it. I said: No, we NEED our bill, my husband has an appointment we need to get going. She said she would bring it and it still took another reminder to finally get her to bring the bill. My husband finally went out to the car to wait for me to pay the bill, since we left over an hour and a half for lunch before our appointment and were now pushing that time. We haven't been to Applebees in many years. This was the last time. In this industry, both customer service & decent food are a must. This place has neither. Our experience there ruined what should have been a nice, quick...

This was the worst experience we have had here. We came in and was seated by a very nice hostess (the only good part of our visit) the hostess was busting her tail cleaning tables and seating people and constantly having to call the servers out of the kitchen to take care of their tables. This should not have even been an issue since there were 7 tables including us. Once we were sat, it went downhill. It took nearly 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. We went ahead and ordered our food at the same time. We both got the unlimited deal they have right now. Food took about 30 minutes to get to us. Which again, the place was nearly empty. We ordered our second round about 10 minutes after getting the first. We finished our first round and sat with nothing for about 40 minutes. By this time there were only 4 tables including us. The server comes back after not even checking in that entire time to tell us the kitchen was backed up. 4 tables . . I highly doubt it. We sat for a few more minutes before finally asking for a manager because this was insane. We were there for almost 2 hours and only had one plate each. We ended up leaving and going to the Applebee's down the street. Where the service was amazing. We sat down, got our drinks, had two plates each and were out in under 30 minutes and the servers there were amazing. The other Applebee's and their staff are the only reason we will ever go back to an Applebee's again and it won't be this...

I would give it 0 stars if the option was available. My husband and I curbside to go and let me just say this is the most nastiest restaurant I’ve ever stepped foot in. The inside has a horrible smell and to top it off after waiting a few minutes waiting for our to go order there was a bug that crawled on my husband’s leg. Also while waiting, employees went in the bathroom to smoke a vape with no regard to customers….ewwww. The icing on the cake was when we got home to eat. The food was just as horrible as the establishment. My hot wings wasn’t hot and tasted like metal. My broccoli was really old and had a weird smell, and my mash potatoes smelled rotten. My steak wasn’t cooked how I asked which was well done, it has no seasoning, it tasted like I was eating chewy and gummy paper. My kid’s chicken tenders and fries were really old and hard to bite into. Also, my husband’s ribs was cold and didn’t look like ribs. EVERYTHING was cold. I wouldn’t recommend this place to NO ONE! This was a really horrible experience being new to the area and my first time there and I WILL NOT be returning……DONT WASTE YOUR...
