This review is from January 2024. Updated January 31, 2025:
On their website tailoreddata.com, they mention free quotes, while recognizing their 30+ years in business and positive reviews. I took in my hard drive and explained my issue to David and how disappointed that the place I took it to originally, weren’t able to recover the data. He said it would take 3-5 business days. I asked if I could pay now (which was $150) and left.
David calls shortly after to ask questions regarding the hard drive. I’m put on hold so he could talk to the tech guy (whom I never saw, but assumed he was in back). David then told it couldn’t be fixed based on their diagnosis.
I come back thinking I’d be refunded, since I paid to what I thought was towards the repair.
When confronted, David apologized and shrugged it off, admitting he forgot to mention it. I would’ve asked to speak to someone else, but a customer was there and I don’t like causing scenes. Not only did I pay $150 for a quote advertised as free, they took all of 20 minutes to diagnose something I already knew that it wasn’t likely to be fixed. I decided to send an e-mail questioning this..
The following are selected parts of the replies by Kevin Moore.
Our website: www.tailoreddata.com does not say anything about free quotes. Even on computer repair jobs, we don't do free quotes. We haven't done them in over 20 years. We should have given you a reference to a couple of companies that can recover your data as you are correct, all data can be recovered unless it has been physically modified.
Escalating the complaint is your choice. Nothing to do with being mad or angry. People can have disagreements without anger.
I feel that you are nitpicking on this "quote" thing. We quote the obvious fix. If you brought in a phone with a broken screen, we quote you the cost of replacing the screen. If you bring in a laptop with a virus, we quote the cost of removing the virus. We don't do the job and then issue a quote. If you were told the amount for the job, that is a quote. I’ve never had any major computer issues that I couldn’t fix until now. I didn’t know how serious data recovery could be at times. I came in for a second opinion, because of your years in business and positive reviews. All I asked was if my hard drive could be recovered. Instead, I feel taken advantage of paying $150 for what I thought would be toward the repair.
I never asked them to fix it. My point is the website says free quotes. If they no longer do them, why is it still on the website? It bothers me that a 30 year old business that admitted their mistake, would risk a negative review, instead of attempting to resolve the issue.
Seeing how others have been ripped off since my review, I felt the need to update this and show proof of how I was lied to about...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews and the nasty responses back to the customers, I'm bothered that I even had to give this business one star.
My wife dropped her device off on Saturday, September 29th for repair a/o 1130. Kevin promised her a call back (by noting the number on the confirmation sheet she received from him) on my phone for when it will be ready for pick up. We returned to the store shortly after 2 p.m after we have not received a call and the business is CLOSED and they were also closed on Sunday.
My wife posted a note on the door Sunday afternoon asking to be called on my phone first thing Monday morning when they opened in reference to her phone. Dianne apparently did not get the note on the door when my wife went in the building Monday morning.
Dianne was not even a little bit helpful when my wife went in the establishment to retrieve her device. All my wife wanted to know was why didn't we get a call back from Kevin like he promised. When my wife wanted to speak with him or his spouse in regards to her phone being kept all weekend his spouse was just as rude as Dianne by saying "Oh well, that's not our fault she didn't know we closed at 2 p.m without even trying to ask her husband if he even attempted to make the phone call. We live less than one mile away from the business. It was nothing for us to get there in less than five minutes of them closing for the day.
After his wife was heard being unprofessional over the phone, my wife was fed up and left the business without paying with intentions on going back whenever Kevin or his spouse got in so we can clarify why my wife was left without her phone for two days and had to pay full price because of their mistake.
Lastly, they pick and choose which military personnel they want to support. My wife went in the establishment in her duty uniform and did not get thanked one time for her service but when she went back to the establishment with another military person Dianne was soooo thankful for him. If you are in any branch of the military, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS business!
In response to Kevin the owner.. If you or your wife would've been polite about what happened with the pone call, it would have never even gotten this far in the first place. There was not an ounce of empathy in that phone call! We will take it as a lesson learned not to depend on a small business to contact you about the service they're providing to you.
When I say you all choose which military personnel you want to support, Dianne did just that!, Like your wife, there was no empathy from what I was telling her had happen (you finally decide to admit it was your fault in the matter) her only concern was to get my money.
As you should know by now, our business will clearly be handled else...
Read moreAvoid this place. They damaged my phone on purpose inside and out!! Police involved! The fact he had to wait three weeks to reply to another person's negative comment before he was "level headed" enough to comment shows this "doctor's" character. And the comments back where the "doctor" tells someone they didn't break their laptop followed up with calling the customer rude is definitely in line with their character too. They definitely broke that person's laptop. This guy is known to lose control and throw tantrums and break customers' items.

I was told by tmobile down the street to take my phone there for the front of my screen to be fixed. Tailored Data Solutions told me it would take 3 days. 7 days later I picked it up because they still didn't have the part in and I found another company who had it in and I could get it back in 3 hours. When I got it back, the BACK had two impacts on it and my sim was backwards. Now I don't know the damage but at the time I was extremely sick and ended up spending a week in the hospital with an infection. We called back to ask about it and got hung up on several times, then the tech, who called himself a "doctor" got verbal with me on the phone. I still need to turn my phone in to the police and it has been almost 2 months. I couldn't afford a new screen anymore because my fiancé's daughter had a surprise wedding up in ohio! I have lost more than half of my omline customers of my business, and had to buy a new phone for $500, and that was with $800 off. Tailored Data Solutions also deleted their last Google page to cover their butts in order to remove my review there. None of this is opinions I have about them. It is straight fact based.
Today we had to go back to tmobile and I asked my fiance to go in and grab a card, so I'd have their address. He went in and asked if they recognized him. They said no. Asked if they remembered me, by name, and the guy said "we were all told we aren't allowed to talk to you".... If that is not an admission of guilt, I don't know what is! Avoid them. For real. They sabotaged my phone and broke it internally and externally, whereas my front screen was just cracked when I took it to them. Corie, the manager and regional trainer for tmobile knows the entire story. Saw my phone before they broke it and after. She, herself went down to them and had words. She is no longer referring any tmobile customers to their store for repairs. She told her...
