Having read several other reviews here about inconsistent service, I decided to post my review as well in hopes that management will take notice and work on improving staff training. Here's our story from a few years ago: I brought my kids (at the time between 3 and 13 in age) to Bob and Edith's in Springfield for dinner (a week-night at about 7 PM) because I love diner cuisine and hoped that my kids would enjoy the experience as well. We arrived at the same time as another family. We got tables next to each other, but with different waiters. The other family gave their orders, and we gave ours. They got salads served to them and I got my salad at the same time. Then their main dishes arrived but we got nothing. They finished their meals, and we were still waiting. They paid their check, and we were still waiting. They left, and we still had nothing more than the salad. A couple arrived and sat in a booth close to us. Their orders were taken, and their salads arrived soon thereafter. I'd had enough. My children were hungry, and I was angry. I went to the cash register to ask why we had been kept waiting for 40 minutes. The man there said that there was a mix up (apparently our waiter took off abruptly) and they were just now getting to our orders. The couple in the booth got their main dishes and 5 minutes later I was just about to leave when an order for one of my kids finally arrived. Eventually the rest of our orders arrived. I can't recall if the food was any good or not, but we ate up, paid the check (no tip obviously) and left. The other family could easily give a better review. In our case, however, the service was woefully lacking, so I am giving this review. And as an added consequence, we've never gone back. Note to management: If you don't want to lose more customers, train your...
Read moreConsumers beware- this experience was completely distasteful with an uncomfortable setting, negative vibes, and tension!! This Saturday afternoon our party of 5 was seated as soon as we arrived. Our waitress was great and the food came out in a timely manner. Once our food arrived, my daughter didn't have cheese on her bacon egg sandwich. We sent it back, it was returned with cold unmelted cheese. We didn't complain again. My daughter then noticed the waitress being consoled by her male colleague, as if she was upset by the cooks mistake or at us for sending the food back. After two minutes, this lady who worked there, came up to the table, reached over our food as we were eating, and grabs the syrup, saying can I have this! Well, by all means, yes ma'am please go right ahead, you have it now. As if there aren't 50 bottles of syrup that were just refilled by the staff right in our face. This lady continued to walk by our table rolling her eyes and mumbling under her breath. She seems to be the stores security bully! Lol because she sure wasn't concerned with her own tables she was waiting on to put that much attention and effort to make our visit uncomfortable and hostile. Tony, the manager took 5 minutes to come out to discuss the situation. He never apologized but listened to our issue and said he would speak with her. This is why I tell my mom to just eat at home. We can make the same food, if not better with love and care. Not worth spending money and getting bullied too. This is why our youth are the way they are because...
Read moreI tried this restaurant for the first time today for breakfast. When the toast came, it had very little butter. So I asked the person walking by to come over. He turned out to be a manager named Aaron (could be spelled different). I showed him the toast and said they didn't really butter it and so I'd like to get more butter. He looked at the toast and rudely said, "it's buttered! But if you want more butter then yes I'll get you some." I said wait a minute. You're going to tell me that you consider this little tiny spot of butter enough, and that toast is properly buttered. He said "yes it is buttered. But I will get you more if that's what you want."
I thought as the manager, Aaron would want to know that the kitchen is sending out the toast with VERY little butter so that he could correct it. Instead, he treats me rudely as he explained it was properly buttered.
I asked him for his name and if he was the manager. He told me his name was Aaron, and then he leaned in to tell me that he wasn't just the manager, he was the district manager (I can't remember if he said 'district' or something else but it was higher management), as if that gave him permission to be so rude.
There was no reason for this to turn out the way it did. All he needed to say was, "no problem, let me get you more butter." He didn't have to attack me saying that the toast was properly buttered, especially when it clearly wasn't. This was the first and last time I will be going to any of the Bob &...
