Cancun Mexican Margarita Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Virginia

I chose this place to have my birthday dinner because it was a place I have gone to for years and had many good times at, but yesterday my family was treated terrible from start to finish. The food was good but it was very hard to communicate with the waitresses which I am sensitive to, but when things like “I need a napkin” and “I would like to order ……” can’t be understood it makes the whole experience challenging. The waitresses did not seem interested in caring for me and my family. They would drop things on the table and run away before you could ask for anything, drinks were left empty, half of our group didn’t even receive silverware until after the food came, and there were things that were asked for that were simply never received. To top it off, while waiting an extended period of time to pay our tab my 71 year old mother was followed out of the restaurant and accused of not paying her bill. The money was on the table, but the waitresses never came back to know, but escalated to thinking we were stealing $37 worth of food. We are honest people and good tippers and didn’t want to make a big deal about the horrible service we received but the payment situation was the last straw. First time visiting Margarita Bar and Grill in Fredericksburg, needless to say, the experience was not a good one. I expressed to the waitress that my partner was a vegetarian and allergic to some ingredients that were on the menu. We ordered a Burrito 🌯 and specified no meat or chicken, and to substitute with shrimp. The burrito came with a few pieces of steak and maybe 5 pieces of shrimp. The chips were stale, the salsa was flavorless, and the restrooms were filthy as well.

The issue was that after expressing no meat, there was meat mixed with the shrimp. So not only cross contamination took place, but my partner ingested meat which could have made her very sick. But when expressing concerns to the manager Johnny, he didn’t show any concern for the error. He said, “it happened, what do you want me to do?” “I took the meal off your check”. I was so upset about his lack of concern 🙁 he showed us. His facial expression showed us he was more bothered by our complaint then offering an alternative, such as a replacement meal for example. I don't know what happened, but the food and the service in this place have drastically declined. The place was practically empty, with about four parties (including mine), yet the food took forever to be served. Our server was friendly, but very inexperienced and had no knowledge of the menu, the beers, and the types of dressings they serve. He gave us chips and salsa, but we never got a refill on those. Our drinks were never refilled, either. I ordered some wings as appetizers, and they arrived after the main course had been brought out. The wings were soggy and tasted as if they had been left out on the counter for an hour before being brought out to us. The main course for my wife and me, beef fajitas for two, was as equally bad as the chicken wings themselves, arguably worse. The beef fajitas were burnt and chewy, the only cheese they provided was mixed into the beans, and they only gave three small tortillas per plate. I ordered chicken tenders for my children, and even they did not like their plates.

Needless to say, we could not finish the food because it was that bad. This will probably be the last time we come to this place.
